Good for them and hopefully good for Greensboro as well, I hope.

McLeansvilleApp. I realize this is sort of final, but is it signed, sealed, and delivered so speak? If so, it, being an HBCU, the move could ultimately benefit both the Colonial Athletic Association as well as AT&T. Just my opinion.

As far as I know this is a done deal. The City of Greensboro sold the old War Memorial baseball stadium to A&T and A&T plans some upgrades there. I think it is nice to see some of the HBCUs break out of the MEAC and SWAC. As a resident of Greensboro I hope this brings in some tourist dollars. With Elon so close the CAA can get a handle on the Triad media market.

I think they are going to struggle for a bit in athletics except for T&F but I do hope they succeed. It would be nice to see both A&T and UNCG make good use of the Greensboro Coliseum. It seems the ACC wants to jump ship on Greensboro.

The writing has been on the wall. ACC Network is headquartered in Charlotte. The conference will be moving their HQ there as well.

Johnny Swofford could no longer control the ACC Board from retirement in his leather & electronic La-z-Boy recliner. j/k

John has done extremely well over a long career. Despite my megaton of misgivings about UNC-Cheat, John and his family have been long-time friends of mine. One of his brothers is a fellow Rotarian in the Rotary Club of North Wilkesboro. Another of his brothers, William, used his middle name as his stage name "Oliver" as a pop/rock recording star in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Anyone remember "Good Morning, Startshine" from "Hair" the Broadway musical and "Jean" from the sound track and theme of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie."
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Airport access and direct flights is a concern we are told. All I care about is the ACC tourney visiting every now and then. And only for the money to the community.

Definitely benefits the CAA some or they would not have done it but I would bet A&T did this mainly because they want to move up to FBS. Had heard from a major booster there a few years ago that was their goal. Besides the other schools wanting out of MEAC to go to SWAC it was a major reason they went Big South to try and move up so to speak within FCS. They are doing the same here and I'm sure their goal is the Sun Belt or CUSA. I could see Kennesaw State moving to CAA, if offered, because they want to move up to FBS as well.

The MEAC was holding A&T and a few other schools back in a significant way. They should have left a long time ago.

Could be paywalled but article about cost of the move to CAA. I have a subscription to the paper but it opened in a private mode window so it should open for anyone.
