Week 1 in NC

Week one was not good for DI football in NC.

Duke, Wake and Davidson won and A&T for the public schools (assuming WCU falls to Hawai'i.)

A few NC teams played other NC teams such as Duke and A&T.

I did not dig down into DII or DIII. I don't think NC has any NAIA teams left.

And Campbell won also.

The JMU game is what made me start looking along with NCSU and UNC-CHeat losing earlier in the day.

I think Davidson is at WCU next week.

The AAC can go ahead and bury that Power 6 commercial and nonsense in the back yard.

I still advocate the P6 not be called the Power 6 but the Prig 6.

There is no P6, there is a major gap between the top half of the P5 programs and bottom much less the G5.

Hawaii 41 WCU 18

Cats had 3 field goals blocked, one resulting in a Hawaii 89 yard touchdown. Caught Speir's comments on WLOS. Didn't look too happy.

St. Andrew's football is NAIA and they are in their first year in the Mid-South Conference.

D2...Mars Hill won, Lenoir-Rhyne lost, Catawba beat St. Augustine's, Wingate beat JC Smith, Elizabeth City State won, Winston-Salem State beat UNC-P, Fayetteville State beat Chowan, Shaw lost, Livingstone lost

D3...Brevard lost, UNC Wesleyan got murdered by Mount Union 58-0, Greensboro lost, Guilford won, Methodist lost to Campbell 8/31

I thought all the NAIA conferences in the Southeast had moved to NCAA DII over last decade or two leaving the NAIA footprint in the midwest and cornbelt ara. Interesting.

There may also be some NCCAA (Christian and Bible colleges) in the state and NJCAA (Junior Colleges) as well.

Nope. The only NAIA FOOTBALL conference in our neck of the woods is the 20 team Mid-South.

Aresco is smart to push P6 for his conference and I'm all for the AAC becoming a power member. This means they can negotiate with the P5 to give them a slice of their power pie and NY6 game, while returning their $10m of CFP money to the "G4" conferences and relinquishing their NY Access Bowl opportunity.

Collectively the Sun Belt and others could agree to add $2m a piece to conference payouts and use the last $2m towards conference rankings at the end of the season or put all $10m into year end rankings payouts.

I wish the AAC all the luck in the world negotiating with the P5 conferences to give up a percentage of their CFP money and NY6 guarantee.

What does "Prig" mean to you? Here's where Bonzo tells me to Google.

"a self-righteously moralistic person who behaves as if superior to others." is the textbook definition. This is not true for all the P5 fans and schools but enough that I prefer than moniker over Power 5.

In the case of NCAA sports I would remove the word moralistic person and just insert the word "school"
