K-State Facing Their Own Graham Type Situation

I'm only putting this up because Sutton was an App target in the 2016 class. And it is different than we faced with Graham since he did actually go there for a year and a half. But the end result is still the same. It's a well know situation that many schools will "bend the truth" to get kids to commit, especially FBS programs, and even more so with the lower to middle P5's. You wouldn't believe some of the things I've heard over the years. And I know there are always two sides to every story. Too bad but this stuff happens more than you think.

Ridiculous on K-State's end, and that the NCAA even allows schools to do this.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but to me there's a difference between breaking an LOI and transferring. I supported Capel in the Graham saga because Graham basically used his LOI as a reservation, then wanted to break it at no cost when he had opportunities to go to bigger programs. Plus there were the rumors of tampering from other schools.

If a kid signs, enrolls, then decides later he wants to transfer, he should be able to do so with no restrictions IMO. I don't even really think they should have to sit out a year.

I agree. It's why I said Graham "Type" situation. And made sure to explain the differences. But they are already and are going to be facing the same media and social media storm that we faced pretty soon. Just makes no sense to hold a transfer who doesn't want to be there. It's not like they don't have plenty of WR's on the roster. And it also holds up a scholarship that could be used in this next class. Who knows the thinking but I wish Sutton the best and hope he finds a place to fit and play.

Sounds like the Kid thought he was going to run the show. When someone told him how he was to carry himself, he did not like it.

Maybe so, or maybe the coaches really were disingenuous with him. Maybe some of both. Whatever the case, why hold him there against his will?

Will he be able to play this season or does he have to sit out a year?

I was getting ready to post all the info in it's own thread but since this has been bumped I'll add it here:

WR Corey Sutton (6' 2" 200) of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, NC (2016) and Kansas St (recently released form his NLI) is transferring to Appalachian. He will have to sit a year due to transfer rules and will be eligible for the 2018 season. He played as a true Fr in 2016 for K-State so he should have three to play once he's eligible since he should still have a redshirt to use. I'll update that or anything else as new information comes available.

Curious. Reason for transfer?

He claims the coaching staff lied to him about playing time.

I'm shocked a college coach would mislead a recruit!

The article lays it out, but if what he said is true I can understand why he's upset. Sutton says that he wanted to redshirt if he was going to play less than 50% of the offensive plays, instead he didn't redshirt and only had four catches on the season. I'd be upset if that were the case too.
