As a 78 WHS grad I'm pretty excited too.

Congratulations Pioneers! Awesome to have a state championship returning to Watauga County after 47 years.

My mom, a 74 grad, summed up the game thusly: "pretty cool".

I remember you fellas. I was just out of the Air Force and attending Lees-McRae at the time. Anyway, I knew Jimmy Flick, Rusty Hicks (former App player), Chip Con (sp), Jeff Maples, and Danny Triplett (former Clemson national champion player).

Its a shame that QB isnt just a wee bigger. He put up some good high school stats and has been pretty good about putting the ball where it needs to go. That first TD down the side was nice.

His dad played at App. Mom was an athlete too at Duke. Great local family! Dad backed up Satterfield I believe.

Oh, and forgot they’re also related to the Critchers. Who had like 2-3 punters/kickers for App.
