You are obviously not EVEN considering the $ with having Ohio St in the CFP. To paraphrase Ms. Lovejoy from the Simpsons, "Won't someone please think of the $." /sNavyApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 2:57 pmIt's absolute garbage to be frank. The Big10 screwed the pooch on earning a spot in the CFP this season. Having a team play 6 games get into the CFP is a joke(but it will happen). They will have played two quality teams and 4 awful teams, they have done nothing to be deserving of their position.

Believe me I am considering it. Hence why I said they will be in regardless. The issue I have is all the pundits and the CFP saying it's based on resume, and it is not. We are no fools. It's all about the Benjamin's, same as the BCS days, she may have changed her name but she still dances the same.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 9:16 amYou are obviously not EVEN considering the $ with having Ohio St in the CFP. Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
I'm in agreement with NavyApp - it's not the Big 10 I am taking aim at because anyone who really understands college football know it is about the money and we all knew the Big 10 would do what it could to make sure Ohio State was "there in the end" - It is the selection committee and the possibility of taking a team which has played half as many games as other contenders -NavyApp wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 9:22 amBelieve me I am considering it. There's a penalty for failure to show at game-time on a reasonably warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in Troy, AL. Suck it up, Cry Babies. Trap games are just part of the sport. Championship teams play 'em all to win.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 1:41 pmForfeit the game and give Troy the W and CCU the L, case closed.

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
We had to play Troy in previous years and based on talent they should beat Troy by 25+. Because Troy is in our division I think it is a no brainer to make them play. I could see this being closer than it should be just because they want to overlook but but I still expect CCU to win by double digits.goapps93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 2:31 pmTrue, but we would be thinking it. In a normal season when games are played as scheduled (and the schedule should be set up to where no one team can have the advantage of an off week prior to a conference championship game) it wouldn't be a problem. But this is no normal season. ULL has an advantage and I'd rather there be no room for question or doubt if ULL wins. That's why the ACC made their decision, to make the playing field as even as possible for a championship game.
As for ULL, it is tough to beat a team twice and you must have superior talent to do so. This is the chance for CCU to show they are truly the most talented team. Their motto has been they will play anyone anywhere and they have signs saying they want Alabama. If they truly think they can play Alabama or are the best team then they should be glad to play these two games. This is their chance to show they can win the league despite perfect conditions like a champion would do.

I know some want what's best for the Conference, that's all fine and dandy. However, at this point (next to beating The Stink this Saturday) nothing would bring me more pleasure than to see Troy beat CCU.

I wouldn't say it. Could you imagine being a Senior thats decided not to use the COVID rule for a free year. Then your school is trying to avoid you from putting on the pads one more. I would be livid.

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
Exactly. We have had trap games every year. It happens for all of us. The fact they took to the media to complain is not going to get them sympathy but instead have most people turn on them and hope to see them lose. He may be right thinking this stuff but you lose the title of "America's team" as ESPN called them during the BYU game when you say this stuff to the media. I'm pulling for Louisiana now.asu66 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 11:52 amThere's a penalty for failure to show at game-time on a reasonably warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in Troy, AL. Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
I'm normally that way but I hope that ULL beats the crap out of them and Troy pulls it out somehow so we can hear the meltdown in the media. People will turn on them and the media hype will go away.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:09 pmI know some want what's best for the Conference, that's all fine and dandy. Coastal not wanting to play spells TRAP GAME in my opinion. Louisiana v Coastal should be a very good game. I think it will be a toss up.

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
I decided to go on over to their fan forum just to see what they thought about the game. Here’s my favorite quote regarding the sun belt not cancelling the game for them:
“ That's just incredible when we have a shot to be the best thing that this conference has ever put on a big stage (hell, we already are). Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. How much publicity has our team provided this damn conference so far this season? You can pile up all the nice years by App State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana, Troy, etc. and it doesn't come remotely close to equating to what we have done this year in exposure.”
I was kinda pulling for coastal, but I really hope someone brings them back to reality. This is their first ever winning season in the FBS...I mean get a grip. According to them the SBC is 100% against them and only them, and the commissioner just treats coastal so poorly. I don’t recall the commissioner making any case for us in years past either?

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
I don't get why they went public with this to the media. I fully understand the coach/administrators working behind the scenes to try to prevent having to play against Troy but letting the entire country know about it is unwise and has very bad optics. Obviously CCU has seen many other conferences bending over to get their teams in the best position to advance in post season (AAC, ACC, B10) and was hoping the Sun Belt would do the same. Welcome to the conference, that isn't how the Belt works. The Sun Belt clearly feels that teams should play the games they were scheduled to play and not get any freebies. This has the look of a bunch of entitled country club kids that can't believe they have to play on a public course. I am now officially backing ULL for the title game. CCU needs a thorough ass kicking from us next season, just hope we have an offensive coordinator that can make that happen by that time.

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
Thd CCU fan comment is the "15 minutes of fame" perspective. Technically, probably correct on the exposure given the advertisement both CCU and BYU got for the last minute scheduled game. Prior to that, I would say the exposure was probably equivalent to all the other teams mentioned, etc. By the diehard fans that follow college football, they look beyond the 15 minutes of fame idea and look at the history of programs.MtnMan14 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 1:21 pmI decided to go on over to their fan forum just to see what they thought about the game. Given that the fan even stated, re-confirms my comment that I hope that they lose to Troy and to ULL. I know who I will be fans of the next two weeks.

Considering that BYU took the game at CCU on two days notice makes this look even worse. Pathetic.

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
They have clearly never won anything and had reason to prove legitimacy. So based on what they are saying the SBC should have let Troy sit out the rest of the year when they beat LSU. They should have given us a pass for the SBC title game last year or called the game at half time so we don't risk blowing it. Troy is in their division and they should have to play Troy.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 1:57 pmThd CCU fan comment is the "15 minutes of fame" perspective. Like you guys, I was pulling hard for them for the good of the league but I hope they lose and finish unranked. They really do need to be brought down a peg.

Re: CCU not wanting to play Troy
Based on our games with both teams I think ULL is the better team, top to bottom. I felt we should have beaten Coastal even being down a few players on the other hand, if it wasn't for the horrible performance of their long-snapper, ULL might have beaten us soundly. That punter they have was deadly in both our games last year and this year I don't think we have the horses to overcome the way that guy flipped the field on us with good snaps.
I believe the championship will be a good game but it would not surprise me in the least if ULL wins by more than a touchdown. If something happens to Coastal's QB in the game against Troy or even early in the ULL game, it's a 3 touchdown win for ULL.
It's any given Saturday and it's a Championship so who knows what will happen. I'll be watching.
