North Dakota State has won six straight against P5 competition—including a win over No. 13 Iowa. Would I be excited to beat Kansas? Heck yes. The fact is, we are 0 in the P5 win column in the past eleven years, and unlike before we have had two chances at home to win, and didn’t.
Beating Kansas in football is like going to stag to the prom and aiming to bag the ugliest girl there.

That is what the UNC win would be like this year because they were awful in 2018 but still going to be a huge deal for us. The bottom line is that Klieman and Bohl each beat P5 teams while Satterfield has never beaten a P5 team.

Personally, I'm tired of losing to a P5 and beating UNC would be a HUGE deal. Another reason why beating a Kansas is a big deal because unlike App State and North Dakota State, if Kansas goes undefeated they would play in the CFP.

NDSU has done two things we have yet to do and that is win 6 FCS titles in history and beat a P5 team in this decade. They have also gone undefeated this year and that is something I want to do in 2019.

Next week walk into 20 different sports bars in large NC cities and ask who won the FCS championship and I guarantee hardly anyone would know the answer.
Bingo
Unfortunately, you may get the same response if you ask "Who won the New Orleans Bowl?"

Without question. Only difference would be that winning the FCS title is currently their ceiling. Winning the NO bowl is a high end consolation prize for us.

Hold Penn State on that 4th down and Zach T doesn’t get hurt...and we’d have been playing LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. NY6 is our current ceiling.

I like where your going but even if we had won those two games, UCF still finishes ahead of us.

Never said we would and I agree 100%. Read it over again and I meant in there even if undefeated we don't get in playoff but Kansas actually would if both of us went undefeated. We could go undefeated in 2019 and we still won't get in playoff. We could compete for NY5 but would need Cincinnati and UCF to each lose a game I would imagine because I do expect both of them to be ranked ahead of us in the preseason.

They recruit and develop talent very well. They also have a strong culture up there. NDSU finds talent and has beaten out MWC, MAC, and Big Ten schools for players. They probably sign 4-5 players a year that we would benefit from having in Boone. Go read up on their signing class over the last two years. They have guys picking NDSU over some solid G5 programs. They have even beat Cincinnati for some players.

LOL at that article. By that logic would Youngstown beat 20 or more FBS programs?

If we had played the same P5 cupcakes that NDSU has we would have a very similar record. Likewise if NDSU had played Georgia, Clemson, and other heavyweights like we have, they would also be 0-fer against P5 schools. This is why I want Doug to really try to schedule us winnable P5 games.

NDSU knows more about their own situation than anybody. I would not judge them in any way. If they are happy, let them be happy and give credit to them. I don't know why anybody would compare NDSU to ASU. Both institutions are doing their thing and doing it fairly well.

Tennessee was not very good the year we lost to them. They were a 5-7 or 6-6 team that year if I remember correctly. Penn State and Georgia are heavyweights but Wake Forest and Tennessee (at the time) were not.

NDSU has not played a P5 the last two years because these schools are scared of them. Iowa was 8-5 in 2016 when NDSU beat them. Without that loss Iowa would have most definitely finished ranked that year. They beat Iowa State by 20 points in 2014 and they were very bad though. They also have wins over Kansas State and Minnesota. I would compare our games against Wake Forest and this year against UNC as like those. Our game with South Carolina this year is probably equal to their Iowa game. They for sure have not played a team as good as Penn State or Georgia though.

If I had to pick a FCS school to play I would actually like to play them. I think it would be interesting, especially now with Easton Stick and Carson Wentz gone. I think their may be room for them to drop off a little next year. They lose a lot of known stars but I'm sure they have some good ones behind them. I watched them in the playoffs and they seemed to have 3 or 4 good running backs so they apparently have some depth. I would imagine that they would at least be a top 10 FCS team, worst case, next year.

Tennessee finished 9-4 and #22 in the nation when we played them. Since 2000 we have NEVER played a p5 that wasn't on the up or in excellent form. We played wake forest and Kansas in some of their best 2-3 seasons in 20 years

Yeah, without looking at it, I'm pretty sure Tenn was one of the better scoring offenses that year too, and we manhandled them defensively.
