A PhD. program we were ready to launch. I believe it was psychology.AppSt94 wrote:Fair enough but you didn't answer my question. What program did UNC directly kill?appst89 wrote:We'll just have to disagree.AppSt94 wrote:Ok, how has UNC killed a program on our campus? They are the flagship institution on the state system. A system that has 17 schools. All 17 schools have a peice of the budget and yes some schools have a larger piece than others. UNC has no more affect on our program than an Appalachian has on an Elizabeth City State. Yes we have had programs cut but maybe they were cuts that made sense in the big picture. I'm not going to debate you on the academic scandal because their is nothing to debate. It was wrong and they should pay for it. But this constant bickering and trolling about UNC is a case of little man syndrome. If you hate Carolina for the reasons that you have stated then fine. Then you must hate State and ECU as well because I imagine that their budget needs contribute to the stifling on our school. Now if you have a problem with the UNC BOG then that would be understandable. However, it is not the schools fault.appst89 wrote:AppSt94 wrote:Here is a fun fact for you guys. There have been 10 posts and 330 views of this thread about Carolina losing yesterday yet I haven't seen any discussion, on this board, about NC State winning their bowl game.
Has NC State ever killed a program on our campus? Ever affected our budget in any way? Did NC State perpetrate the biggest academic fraud in the history of college sports all while telling everyone they were superior?
UNC-Cheat is always going to generate more conversation because, unfortunately, they have the ability to affect, directly and indirectly, what happens on our campus.
I will say the little man syndrome comment is a cheap shot. But it's SOP in any discussion where UNC-Cheat comes up; "you don't like them so you must be jealous of them." Not the case.

Re: UNC Bowl
From all the minor bowls I've seen thus far, I believe App could take most of the teams I've seen. I'm already looking forward to next season. Go Apps!!AppAlum1 wrote:Did anyone else see the UNC vs. Rutgers Bowl game? UNC stank. Bad.
After about the first 5 minutes of the second quarter, UNC did not want to play anymore. It never got better, although their freshman QB looked OK.
App could have beaten the heels by three scores or more this year.
When, oh when, will they agree to play us?

So the Chancellor and President of UNC-CH killed the psychology Doctoral program or was it the BOG?

I really don't care what happens with UNC-CH unless they are playing the Apps. The academic scandal will have an effect at some point, but it doesn't do anything but make a laughing stock of their superior academics and "Carolina Way" BS. I just won't be hiring any African American Studies graduates from UNC to our firm for awhile.

Re: UNC Bowl
That is my point. If you don't like them then don't talk about them. They don't play us or won't play us so why bother with them at all. They are having problems within their university that unfortunately cast a dim light on us by association so why do so we feel the need to kick someone when they are down.SpeedkingATL wrote:I really don't care what happens with UNC-CH unless they are playing the Apps. They don't cast any dim light towards us. We get no credit for the good they do, we take no credit for their downfalls either. The only way their scandal impacts us is the cost of compliance that will be forthcoming.AppSt94 wrote:That is my point. If you don't like them then don't talk about them. I'm not here to kick them while they are down, but I won't stop anyone that may want to. I've spent 30+ years hearing how they are above this type of crap. They aren't and haven't been for a long time.
I hate the offseason, hopefully our football fans will get on the fox train and we can avoid these types of conversations. I boycotted watching them play in their postseason game and will do so until they are punished. I'm doubtful they ever will be so it's a win win for me.

Don't boycott watching it, your keeping yourself from great enjoyment. I take great pleasure in watching their ineptitude.Saint3333 wrote:AppSt94 wrote:SpeedkingATL wrote:

Because we like sports and they are regional. Plus, we all have teams that we hate. If you don't like that people are talking about UNC, don't read the thread. I don't get why there's a thread about the "UNC Bowl" here either, but I am not arrogant enough to presume that my opinion should dictate others posting habits.

Re: UNC Bowl
Thanks for the tip Chief! I am not blind to the fact that there are teams that people love to hate. I just made a point of observation that someone felt the need to start a thread about UNC's bowl loss but no one started a thread about NC State's impressive showing in their bowl game. That point of observation makes me a UNC apologist or a Wal-Mart Tar Heel fan with some on this board. Hate them all you want because they are the most arrogant, obnoxious fan base around. It makes no difference to me. But Western fans feel the same way about us.ASUMountaineer wrote:Because we like sports and they are regional. Plus, we all have teams that we hate.
