We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Beck at UGA in portal.
Cam Ward did the same thing last year; Declared for NFL first but I guess you can return as long as you don't sign? Probably got bad remarks from NFL especially with the elbow surgery. How much money will Miami pay him? $3-5M? His GF goes there and is pretty famous.
Will be interesting to see if Kirby wanted him back or not, seems like they mutually parted ways.
Kids can go back to school and make more money than they would in the NFL. The NFL draft is becoming more of a "senior out of eligibility" draft now.

Wonder what the difference between a NIL agent and an NFL agent is exactly?

NFL agents have to be registered. College agents can be anyone. It truly is the Wild West.

We had a great guest on our show yesterday Ramon Robinson who runs a QB academy here in the Upstate who let us in on how he operates as a back door agent setting up transfer deals before the athlete declares. He worked with LaNorris Sellers at South Carolina and Grayson Loftis who was at Duke now at Charlotte among many others. The dude is a wealth of knowledge.
Specific to this question, the Q&A begins around the 3 minute mark, but the whole interview is really interesting. I asked about how he mentors guys interested in the portal and around this new JUCO loophole which applied to Joey Aguilar, etc.

Rick Neuheisel said the kid from Tulane got $4 million to go to Duke. I figured Beck would get more.

$4M is more than a lot of NFL guys. Especially coming off Tommy John surgery…
You’re right though, he’s a better Qb than whoever Duke got.

Apparently Beck rubbed a lot of UGA coaches the wrong way because he went to another dr. for a second opinion on his elbow, then didn’t rejoin the team for practice or anything after his surgery. Just showed up to the game. There were also a lot of rumblings all season about him not getting along with most of the team.

Assume you are a Miami alum earning $150K/year and donating $2K/year to the Miami athletic scholarship fund- How do you feel about partially funding the tuition for a QB that is going to get paid $4M?

If sports betting wasn’t like it is today would NIl exist? It’s amazing how much people with stupid money really care about winning unless they are gambling.

I bet he will be stoked if he wins them a conference title and gets them into the playoffs.

Yes NIL would still exist, it is ego driven more so than anything else. The guys in the C suites want to be able to brag to the others about how good their football team is doing, regardless of what it costs. That is why the big givers really are not looking for ROI, because it is not really a financial commitment as much as an emotional commitment. Just look at the old Southwest conference of the 70s and 80s, SMU is the poster boy but every school was paying out big buts and there was no legalized gambling back then, but there were still rich egos.
