If their campus was somewhere cool and actually in Charlotte, I could see recruits wanting to go there. Not much different from Gardner Webb in my opinion.

I remember they added some temp seating for our game there. So it may have been closer to 20k at least.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 9:28 pm20,000. You are too kind. It holds 15,614 or so.

Re: Meanwhile in Charlotte…
They did do that for us. I figure we had 60 % of those seats. I had the 10 seat special I got calls from them for a year or two about getting more tickets until I finally told them what I was doing with their huge discount.biggie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 9:40 pmI remember they added some temp seating for our game there. Re: Meanwhile in Charlotte…
Right? If their campus was planted on the banks of Lake Norman that would be cool. If their campus was within sight of the Charlotte skyline making it feel like they were actually in a big city and the buildings lit up green on game days that would be cool. But it’s not, they’re not, and they don’t. Hey they could always do the opposite of what Furman did in the 50s and move from a beautiful downtown out to the sticks.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 8:07 pmIf their campus was somewhere cool and actually in Charlotte, I could see recruits wanting to go there. UNC Charlotte, the Statesboro of NC. Minus the football program of course.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:52 amRight? If their campus was planted on the banks of Lake Norman that would be cool. The homeless people love that stop. Not joking. Took my daughter to a week long camp at UNC Concord and even the TAs leading the camp said that the homeless situation around and on the campus was concerning.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 4:57 pmthe light rail they have with a campus stop is nice and i would clearly love that but that only goes so far.

Re: Meanwhile in Charlotte…
See? If you attend UNCC, you can go to class, mix it up with the bums down at the train stop, then slide by Harris-Teeter for eats before heading back to the house.
And that, my friends, is a full day.

Trying to figure out why this thread even exists. Why does anyone really care anything about UNCC? Seems like some here are more concerned about them than most of their students / alumni are.

Re: Meanwhile in Charlotte…
An urban university the size of UNCC located downtown where CPCC currently sits could really have a great vibe.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:52 amRight? No I meant literally you only go so far. the light rail stops and you are still stuck in one of the rudest cities in the country.AppDub wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 8:22 pmThe homeless people love that stop. Oh, I got ya. Yeah they are talking about extending it North to my area. No Thanks.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 12:03 amNo I meant literally you only go so far. the light rail stops and you are still stuck in one of the rudest cities in the country.AppDub wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 8:22 pmThe homeless people love that stop. I have to admit I made the joke only after you called me out on the homeless, but my post did make me chuckle as I love some good word play.AppDub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 5:22 amOh, I got ya. Actually I am in favor of the Red Line extension. I am a big booster of rail for environmental reasons. I am a member of both Carolina Association for Passenger Rail and the national Rail Passenger Association. There can be problems, some legit and some that are a bit more NIMBY than I would prefer. Hopefully those concerns will be addressed as I don't want anyone complaining about transit. We have to get cars off roads and develop greener modes of transportation and light rail is the best option for long term carbon savings for Charlotte. You are going to have a few years before this is all worked out I am sure.
I will say the other part of my post was not in jest, Charlotte is a rude city, except for the Amtrak station agents. The agents are extremely nice and I have yet to see a bad interaction when I am hanging out at the CLT station between my train hosting trips.

One of the most fun things to be in the world is a fan. The second most fun thing to be is a hater.

Don't waste good hate on them. There are so many more relevant teams / schools to hate on.

Re: Meanwhile in Charlotte…
I have to admit to checking in on them 3 or 4 times this season. I likely stop after a few games, but I don't mind spending 10-15 minutes on a Sunday after Saturday games to check in on them. If ECU had a better board I would check in on them as well. Though I have to admit I see Charlotte a bigger rival than ECU but that is due to physical proximity of Boone and my home to Charlotte vs Greenville and the amount of time I have spent around all three campuses.
