Re: March Madness
How do you think Burns will do offensively against 7-4 Edey

Re: March Madness
I believe state may try 23 on defensive end. On offensive end, it will depend on how refs call the game. If they let the players bang each other like they have been, he may do okay. That short 8 to 10 foot jumper that he hit tonight in first half will be important. If Refs do not allow the body contact, it may be a tough night for Burns.

Re: March Madness
Watched two college B-ball games this year and I have to say watching those guys from State was fun. And the interview after the game with Burns was great, “when playing basketball stops being fun, I’ll stop playing basketball”.

Re: March Madness
The refs/NCAA want Edey too.
FT attempts per game this season.
DJ Burns--2.4
Donavon Clingan--4.1
Kyle Flipowski--4.7
Armando Bacot--5.1
In their last year of college
Shaq--8.5
Christian Laettner--6.6
Ralph Sampson--5.4
Tim Duncan--8.7
Kareem--6.3
Bill Russell--7.3
Bill Walton--3.7
Danny Manning--6.1
Ewing--4.3
Tyler Hansbrough--8.7
Anthony Davis--5.1
Zach Edey........11.2
Against TN he went 14-22 from the line.
Scoring 40 is a lot easier when you've got some stripes on your side every single night. Edey is getting help on an all-time insane level. Truly, if there were a hall of fame for zebras riding your nuts, he would be at the top over every NBA star out there.
In Michael Jordan's entire career, he only had two seasons of double-digit FTA, and that was when he was 23 and 24. Long before the championships and he was one of the most protected players ever in the second half of his career once the NBA understood what a cash cow he was.
Lebron snowflake James has only had three seasons in doubt digits and again early on, with his highest being 10.3.
Never in my life have I seen a college player as propped up as Edey. The NCAA wants him to win badly for whatever reason.

Re: March Madness
Late first or early second. Most project him as a backup and situational role player. He can't guard the Euro-style bigs and has to continue to work on his footwork to get more than 15 minutes a game, if that. The game is too fast for his style of play to be effective for entire games.

Re: March Madness
I could see Burns also bring a tough matchup for Edey. Burns will have posted, turned, driven to the basket and scored before Edey has even turned around.

Re: March Madness
Edey has the reach to affect a lot of shots. Don’t care about the NBA but just saying he is a very good college player.

His draft stock will be even lower if that occurs.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 5:08 pmI could see Burns also bring a tough matchup for Edey. Burns will have posted, turned, driven to the basket and scored before Edey has even turned around.

Re: March Madness
Welp, the game has barely started and ncsu has two fouls. Just like the TN game the ncaa wants its storyline to follow script.

Re: March Madness
Yup...that was just kind of sad. That week off left them with too much time to think about the big moment and they melted. That's really a shame. Truly they could have and should have won. They showed how to stop edey on those pick and rolls, and held a good scoring team to 63. Purdue had 16 turnovers and ncsu just couldn't do it. O well. I doubt I'll watch the natty game.
O well, Keatts just walked home with a bag-o-cash and now 3.1 mil a year. Apparently they grabbed the #13 portal guy and some others. I'll be paying attention next year to see how they rebuild with the portal again.
