However, Missouri has won the SEC East twice since they've joined the conference. I'm not saying Drink is the man to get them there, I'm just saying its not impossible.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:39 pmI'm with you on this. If he somehow wins the SEC East he should get a big raise. As long as expectation is 6-9 wins a year then he should be fine. If they expect him to win 11-12 games and make it to the SEC Title Game and finish in the top 10 regularly then they will probably be disappointed./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:29 pmMissouri will never be top of even the SEC East. UGA, Florida, possibly Kentucky, and even Tennessee once they get their shit together will always dominate. Drink's future will depend on the expectation set forth by their A.D. If the A.D. is content with just making a bowl game, then Drink should be able to get 6 plus wins a year. If the A.D. wants Drink to take them to the SEC Championship, that likely won't happen and his seat might get hot.
He wasn't with App State long enough to be "butt hurt". He won some very important games albeit with Satt players. He also did a complete shit job against Georgia Southern. I like many have just moved on, and look forward to the future.
I will say though, had he been a fan and silent promoter of Coke products I might miss him a bit more.
It is not impossible but Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia need to be down and Kentucky (was 2-10 in 2013) not being in the basement of the league does not help their status.
Keep in mind that was during the years South Carolina was really good and Georgia was down big time. Georgia lost 3 SEC games in 2013 when Missouri won the east. Florida was 4-8 and Tennessee was 5-7 overall that year. Missouri won the east because the league was down big time. Vanderbilt was 9-4 in 2013. Georgia was not a top 10 team (8-5). Missouri and South Carolina are both now where the history says they should be while Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida are back where most feel they belong.
So like you said it can happen but it is not easy and the fortunes of Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and even Kentucky have changed big time, which makes it even harder.
With that said, his goal is not to win the east regularly or become a top 10 team. It is to win 8-10 games total a year. Finish in the top 25 and show he can be somewhat competitive. If he can do that then he could be in line for a bigger payday at a SEC or Big 12 powerhouse that would maybe pay him 6-8M a year or at least stick around Missouri long enough to win some bowls and collect enough money to live comfortably on for the rest of his life.
