Agree. Kean is the better passer but a lot of good it does when your receivers have stone hands.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:52 amI agree. Kean does throw a better deep ball than Reynolds. However, Reynolds is crafty and his ability to scramble adds an element. The play where he was tackled just short of the goal line last night was a broken play. He started scrambling left. Then, broke it back to the right on his own and almost beat the defense to the pylon. However, GW was getting zero pass rush.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:33 amAs long as Reynolds stays healthy then I would agree with you. They were a much better offense with Reynolds at QB than Kean.AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:13 amWe should win easily next weekend, but after watching parts of the UNCC, FIU, and UAB games yesterday, I expect the Niners to get to bowl eligiblity in their dumpster fire of a conference.
Likely, he'll be running for his life against us, as was the case last year.

Re: Unc Charlotte
I always respect an opponent, but from what I saw last night: If we execute, it's going to be a very similar game to last year. Gardner-Webb had a ton of miscues last night. From kicking the first kickoff of the game out of bounds (I didn't see it because I was standing in the beer line), to illegal substitution on the defense on the first series to penalties that gave the Niners first downs, etc.hapapp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:34 am28% of their scoring is not "a lot." All the jabbering and put downs are what stoke a rivalry but mean nothing as to the outcome of a game. I believe the game next week will be closer than many of our fans want to believe. It sure seems a number of us are trying to convince ourselves otherwise.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:10 amSo you deny that the game was stopped after several plays when GW players were down with cramps on both of those drives? You must have been one of the 4/5 of attendees who left at half time.Niner National wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 7:52 amWe scored 35 in the first half and 14 in the second. UNCC did a lot of their scoring at the end of the game when GW players were cramping up after each play, which is the typical tipping point for FCS teams with fewer scholarships/depth.
Their offense uses a clap to signal the center to snap the ball. They’re going to have a very hard time next week unless they change to a non-auditory cue at The Rock. GW players were clapping to draw false starts. We’ll probably see their O line holding hands to overcome the KBS noise level.
Next week is going to be a very fun blood bath to watch if you’re an App fan.
Charlotte took four plays to punch it in from the 5 yard line for their first TD (Healy shunned the FG and went for the TD on 4th and Goal). Then, after cutting the score to 28-14 in the final two minutes of the first half, GW gave up a 72-yard TD run on a simple hand-off straight up the gut. It could have easily been closer at halftime (not that GW was going win the game).
The 4th Q resembled an NFL pre-season game chuck full of back-ups.
And for the record, they did not have 4/5 of the crowd leave at half time. There crowd, including the students was there until the end of the 3rd Q.

I foresee major disruption in the Niner backfield next Saturday. Their offense is gonna be as out of rhythm as their marching band is...

"many of our fans". Tap the brakes, the majority of fans here have been respectful to the UNCC crowd. Also could you define "closer". Many think we'll win by 2-3 TDs, that seems very reasonable. Sometime we focus on the loud few here.hapapp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:34 am28% of their scoring is not "a lot." I haven’t been disrespectful to anyone. I just think their team is bad based on all the available evidence and I expect to win big in 8 days.

I mean "closer than many of our fans want to believe" is chock full of qualifiers.
I'd imagine that all of our fans WANT to believe that we'll blow out every opponent we face 100-0.
I don't think any of our fans DO believe that.
Ultimately, though, it doesn't matter what we believe, as long as our coaches and players are actively preparing for every single game in a way that allows us to maximize our own advantage and minimize theirs.

Feel free to interpret this comment anyway you wish: ETSU is not the weakest team on our schedule this season.

Re: Unc Charlotte
Obviously, we need to see how App comes out the gate tomorrow....but, like I referenced above, I see NOTHING that should concern App fans going into next week. Benny looked a step slower than last year, Reynolds arm is weak (albeit accurate), their receivers had brick hands, and their O line was getting no push up front. They have a decent set of DBs, that #5 kid is somewhat dynamic, and Reynolds works really hard to make something of nothing. If this game is closer than last year, I’ll have concerns.hapapp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:34 am28% of their scoring is not "a lot." Well Gonzo you are putting some bad karma in the air with these comments lol but granted the coaching transition goes well I’d be surprised if we win by anything less than 3 TDs. Gardner Webb is a really, really...really bad football team and if it was us that allowed 28 points to them i would be worried.

Re: Unc Charlotte
I watched the game on ESPN+. I'm not the typical Charlotte hater like some on here are, but I was not impressed with their offense or defense. If GW scored 28 we should be able to score 70 unless we just take our foot off the gas. This is based solely on athleticism and football intelligence. The gap in team speed between Charlotte and GW was painfully obvious. Roles will be reversed and amplified next week. We are simply faster and stronger than Charlotte. They may be bigger in places, but big and slow can't compete with strong and fast.

Calling them a commuter school and talking about them living in mama's basement is not disrespectful?

He said "all the available evidence." We may not have played in 2019 but it's not like we've never seen any of these players in a college game before.
I haven't seen Bama play yet this year either, but I'll make a bold statement that they're going to be one of the best teams in the nation.
