We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. I'm surprised. I thought he was high on their list coming out of college.asutrnr81 wrote:Patriots worked out 3 WR today....AE was not one of them!

It's too late in their season now, but how would you guys feel if AE took a contract to play in the CFL next summer?

I think that's pretty much always the case except for Julius Peppers.appbio91 wrote: Afraid his experience in CLT has lowered his stock value.

Re: Anything on AE yet?
Armanti pretty much has three football options and I'm sure he's trying to decide which direction is best. You could also put DJ Smith in these same catagories.
1. He could try and get on a team that has lost some of their receivers to injury. But what happens when they come back from said injury. They are on contract and he could be bumped down the depth chart again. I'm sure he doesn't want to be in that situation again.
2. He could put his name out to a team that has their receivers but they're not very good. Problem is unless they loose one, since he's not PS eligible, they would have to cut someone in order to make a place. Most teams don't want to do at this point in the season, especially with a new player that has to learn the playbook. Which is one of the reasons the Panthers cutting him now was a surprise to most.
3. He had at least two or three CFL teams scouting him at camp this year and last, hoping the Panthers would cut him. Didn't happen in time so, if he wants to go there for either a WR or QB position he has to wait more.
One other thing that I'm sure he's doing is getting his hammy looked at to make sure he's completely 100% before he works out for anyone.
My guess is he will hope for option two, but if he truly wants back at QB, then he'll be working out his arm again along with the usual workouts while he waits. Maybe he can get picked up with a team that runs an offense close to the Panthers so he's not so far behind in trying to pick up the playbook but he can also wait until the season ends and get signed by someone to the 90 man roster and make it from there. He can also try up north and go back to QB. With all the WR training he's been doing he'll be a better running QB than ever.

Re: Anything on AE yet?
My guess is they knew they were going to cut him that is why they were talking him so much; trying to help him out by generating some interest. With the inconsistencies they have had at receiver how else do you explain cutting "the camp MVP". Apparently no suiters came calling and they decided to cut bait. I would like to say phuc em but we have a no cursing clause so I will just say to heck with them. Good luck #14!!

Re: Anything on AE yet?
I watch the CFL regularly (father-in-law played for the Roughriders) and I think AE’s specific set of skills and his athletic ability would lend itself very well to the Canadian game. The QB’s are generally smaller and more agile and the teams usually run a faster paced game. The bigger field would give AE more room to work, improving his scrambling. As a WR, or slot back, he’s physically in-line with some of that league’s all-time greats. Geroy Simon, CLF all-time leading receiver, is 6’0” 189#, and this season’s leading receiver, Fred Stamps, is 6’0” 188#, making Armanti’s 5’11” 182# not seem so small. All that is to say that I firmly believe Armanti would not only start, but perhaps excel in the CFL.
If that his is best option remains to be seen, based on what options are presented versus what is more important to him. If it’s just about the money, then a NFL practice squad will earn him more cash. If it’s about being on the sidelines as an NFL player, then he’s got to take that shot. If it’s about being on the field, making a real difference for a team/franchise, actually playing the game, then the CFL is most likely to be his best option.
Whichever way he gets to decide to go, I’m damn proud of him and will continue to be so. He’s proven to be an excellent athlete with a really strong work ethic and generally a good guy. Whatever team picks him up, in whatever capacity will be damn lucky to have him around.

Re: Anything on AE yet?
This young man offers too much to a team for him to be left out of the game. He was the most thrilling and creative college QB I have EVER seen in my 60 yrs of watching football.
Another thing about AE, even after he got to Charlotte, he always answered interviewers with respect and politeness......"Yes Sir.....No Sir....Yes Ma'am...... No Ma'am. His Mother taught him right. I am proud of him for these two reasons, in addition to his academic creds and graduating in 7 semesters!!!
AE is the Man!!!! and always will be to me.
I would consider him "The Face of the Program" at App State.

Glad the connection was to the Roughriders. God knows I hated the Rough Riders.MtnDevil95 wrote: (father-in-law played for the Roughriders)

Ottowa rejoins the league in 2014 . . . though this time as the Redblacks - perhaps the dumbest name ever.
