Both appear to be active today, plus the Panthers only have 4 Wide Receivers active today with Hixon sitting out. Hopefully that will lead to some meaningful action for AE today. Got to have something to brighten the football weekend.

Did not see him at all. Is he injured?

So much for that theory. He was in for one play definitely and I couldn't tell if he stayed in for the next one, but that was all. You would think with only 4 receivers active he would have gotten some more playing time. Maybe the hamstring is still a little tight. What a crappy football weekend.

With Larry Foote out for the year, I wonder if DJ gets a call for a tryout in Pittsburgh.

He would look natural in the colors.

I was worried when I saw that AE didn't play one bit in the final preseason game when (Lafell, Hixon, and Ginn all got looks), and it seems to be status quo as usual for the Panthers: hype him up as a standout in training camp and then put him in for ONE FREAKIN' PLAY (a QB draw!) I'm not sure if it was a designed run because AE did not make much of an effort to block his cornerback and that's who tackled Cam if I'm not mistaken.
What happened to Ricky Proehl saying 'He will get an actual chance this year".
I want to like the Panthers, I really do, but they have not given AE a legitimate shot at any position besides return man and yet the fan base has already anointed Cam Newton as the MVP of the world, and turned on Armanti (most hate him) without even seeing what he can do. I know it's jealousy, but it just makes me want to root for my hometown of Buffalo instead (ay yi what a choice

) but in all seriousness I won't abandon the Panthers, but I just have a feeling that a team like the Bills would welcome AE with open arms and no anti-App bias. It's nice to dream....

As someone mentioned, he might not be over the hamstring thing completely. They can be the dickens to recover from.

Sorry guys but AE was in for more plays than one or two. He just wasn't targeted. Ginn only had one catch for 10 yards so they weren't calling many plays for the 3rd wideout. The one throw I saw that Cam was about to go to AE was when he was sacked and got the facemask call. They were alternating him and Ginn as the 3 WR from the second part of the 2nd quarter through the end of the game. And just to be sure I wasn't wrong I just replayed the game and what I saw was correct. I saw him throwing blocks for Williams and Tolbert on several run plays and blocking for Smitty and Olson on a few more. One problem for some was that the back of his jersey was bunched up and there was no way to read the 14. You had to look close to make sure it was him but watching from the huddle he was there.

In other NFL-App related news, BQ came within a yard of scoring in the Rams win over the Cardinals.

Thanks hap. Good catch (pun intended). I was on the Rams board when he made the grab. Good things were said. I just forgot to mention it. Poor Brian. That's twice in two weeks that he almost scored (the catch and slide last week was a TD, Fisher just didn't challenge) I just wish he could have scored. He will soon enough.
Also Kilgore balled out today. He was not only playing line but they were lining him up as a extra blocker in the backfield. He was really sealing the edge and allowing the backs to pick up extra yardage. Good to see him getting plenty of reps.

Charlotte Observer confirms only one play:
Armanti Edwards played just one snap – a designed quarterback draw. Coach Ron Rivera said Edwards could have been used in an emergency, but with Edwards also coming off a hamstring strain, the team wanted to be careful.

Well I guess I'm effing blind because I went back a THIRD time and watched every Panthers offense possession in slow mo. Guess the plays that I saw where someone with the name EDWARDS on their back (two times in the 2nd and two times in the 4th, even wrote the times and results of the plays) it wasn't him. Guess if BAMF said it then it's true.
Time for a visit to the eye doctor.

Hope AE can get fully recovered and get some legit chances to make an impact. If he doesn't make much of an impact this season -- regardless of whether it's due to coaches not giving him playing time, injuries, lack of production if he gets in games, or whatever -- I'd be surprised if the Panthers keep him around next year. Really pulling for him to have his opportunity. Have to wait and see.

I think the problem is that we've seen such bad offense between our Mountaineers and Panthers over the last few weeks, that we can no longer trust what we are seeing.
