The analyst was critical of Virgil when he slowed up his route on the incomplete pass in the end zone.

Hennigan hurt his shoulder. He will likely end up on IR and is likely to need surgery.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 5:16 pmHennigan is in street clothes for the Vikings vs Raiders. Didn't know he was hurt but obviously is.

Looks like Jackson is done for the season. Hope he can bounce back and not let his career derail before it starts.

"WR Thomas Hennigan, waived by #Vikings today with injury designation, suffered shoulder injury in practice last week, which is why didn't play in Sunday preseason opener at Las Vegas. It's possible injury could be season ending. Will revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers"
Hennigan put on waivers but if nobody claims him, he will go to IR. Believe it or not this is better for him financially, even though still not good. He was likely going to get cut or put on the practice squad, which would be around 175k or so. By being put on IR he will get half of his salary so around 400k.

Yes that's now 3 either retired or injured. Hopefully Virgil and Taylor will stay healthy and make it though.

Darrynton Evans just scored a rushing TD for Bears vs Seattle. He’s in a battle for a roster spot so this can only help his cause. He has 35 yards on 7 rush attempts and 2 receptions for 7 yards into the 3rd quarter.

Just realized my error that obviously Darrynton Evans is not a ‘22 FA but still working to make a roster and contribute so I got excited and wanted to comment on his efforts.

I'm sure that someone could track this- over the last 20 years how many App guys have been in an NFL camp? Of the invitees/drafted how many made a roster? And of those who made it how many played 3 plus years (assuming that the average career is still about 3 years). We seem to have really had more injuries than usual this year. We have had quite a few guys reach the NFL and still have several on rosters.

Tae Hayes PIC6 for the Panthers. He should make the next cut.

Did you see Tae take Zappe's helmet off on his return. Loved it, a little bit of payback from the bowl game.

Nice article on the Panthers site about Tae. He's played well in his 2 preseason games. Hopefully he's done enough so far for a spot.

The stats and eye test would tell you Virgil should make it. But he is still running with the 3s. Practice squad would be best case scenario.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!

Virgil does no worse than practice squad but his catch in traffic (excellent) and the 2 KRs should put him in the 53.
On DT:
“I’m not sure how it’s going to work, but I really think Demetrius Taylor might make this football team. His first step is really something, especially for an interior defensive lineman.
In a defense that is predicated on attacking gaps and creating chaos, Taylor seems like an ideal fit. He finished with two tackles on the stat sheet, but had a few other reps where he appeared to beat a blocker cleanly, causing havoc without it reflecting on the box score.
With several defensive linemen currently on the mend, Taylor could be in line for playing time when the regular season kicks off in a few short weeks.”
