We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

DJ Smith released by Packers
Got to admit I didn't see this one coming. Considering, before his injury in game 6 he was the starter and main backup for Desmond Bishop, who has been injured several times. DJ played in all 16 games in 2011, starting 3 of them and calling the on field defense. And he was the starter in all 6 games in 2012 before his injury. Unless his recovery isn't progressing well I really can't see the reasons behind this and neither do most Packers fans, after reading their boards. Hopefully it's not his recovery and he will be picked up by a team soon.

damn. only reason I had to pull for the Packers at all just got let go. I can see him getting picked up by another 3-4 team that needs ILB depth (Ravens??)

Yeah, if it's not because of his injury then I think he will be picked up quickly. He was playing well and the coaches, by all reports, loved him. Capers even said in an interview that he would love to field an entire team of DJ Smiths'. I'd been watching to see if there was anything being reported this past offseason that said he was having trouble in his recovery but I haven't seen anything. That's why I was surprised. Guess something will come out now as Packers fans are pretty upset on their boards.mtnjax wrote:damn. only reason I had to pull for the Packers at all just got let go. I read that he didn't pass his physical, unfortunately. Hope he can get back to 100% at some point.

Its not that he didn't pass a physical, there are certain recovery benchmarks and he is behind them and the Packers just cut bait. If DJ rehabs well he could be picked up in the preseason or take the year off to further rehab. The Packer jury was out on him. Half loved him and the other half thought he wasnt fast enough in coverages. Personally I think he has the heart and drive to get back and will make a quality backup for a couple more years.

Gotcha. Glad to know he's not permanently hindered by a Elon level cheap shot.Rekdiver wrote:Its not that he didn't pass a physical, there are certain recovery benchmarks and he is behind them and the Packers just cut bait. The chargers took Te'o. How will that affect DJ being grabbed by them?

I'm a Bears fan - it was rough seeing DJ in puke green and piss yellow.87ASUgrad wrote:Great, I am glad DJ is a Charger now. That's good news and I won't have to pull for the Packers any more now! Give em hell DJ!!
