AE back in the CFL with Edmonton Elks

Unread post by appstate77 » Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:48 pm

Armanti's CFL season begins Saturday night in the Elks first game since 2019.
He is expected to be a starter at Slotback. Coming off of three seasons with close to or more than 1000 receiving yds. The GOAT continues a great career. Is he our only pro player still active from our FCS days?

Sam Martin, now that Kilgore is done and I am assuming Quick has moved on with life after 2019

If we're counting as played in a game while FCS, then there's still Ronald Blair, but he graduated during the FBS years.

Kendall Lamm is with the Titans now. I think all but 1 of his collegiate seasons was in the Southern Conference.

Opening some holes for Darrynton Evans.

Eskimo has been an inappropriate term for the Inuit people for decades. A name change was well past its due. And they knocked it out of the park with the new name and logo.

I am as big an App Homer when they guys get to the pros as the next guy. If I were a Titan fan I would like to see as little of Evans as possible. Unless it is blowout reps.

Likely more Elk than anything else in that area. :-)

Can keep the EE logo on the helmets.

Anyone know how many years in the CFL the union negotiated to get a pension. I think the NFLPA has it down to about 4 years now, which is pretty good.

He should receive both a CFL pension and a Canadian pension via the CPP. My grandmother still lives comfortably off her combination CPP & CN Rail pension in greater Vancouver.

Did your grandmother work for CN Rail or is this a spousal pension? Next question is what work was done for CN Rail. Was this CN Rail or BC Rail (or maybe both since BC Rail was taken over in 2004) since you mention the Vancouver connection?

Ha! Sure did.

Wonder when the Yankees will change their name?
Hope AE rips it up this year!

She worked for CN rail out of northern Ontario and Toronto. She lives in Van now because my Uncle is there, who worked for BC Rail!

Funny enough my grandfather was an engineer for CN. My great grandfather as well. Lots of interesting stories about operating locomotives through the bush of northern Canada. Big train family.

We should just have a folder where you can tell all of you train stories for me to read.

I'm loving the "Elks" logo, but I'm biased since that was my high school mascot.
