Re: Student Fees
Look at it this way, those fees are what allows the students to attend all of the games in all the sports. Without those fees the students would not attend all that many games. From an individual ticket price to all the events students can get into, that is a bargain. I'm not saying do away with th...

https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2024/03/goodman-nick-saban-is-the-new-face-of-an-old-scam.html Interesting that the SEC is troubled by the fact the BIG has more money and can buy the best team. Serves’em all right. We’ve, G5, been fighting that fight for years. Shoes’ on the other foot. LOL If t...

I was curious when exactly they started to rise. The fact it did rise and with all we did is why I hope we can retain Kerns. I would love to see what we would do next year with most of the team back along with the coaches and some of these newcomers they have signed/committed. Really hope Huntley c...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
I simply can't believe that a majority of these athletes who multiple transfer are managing the academic side. Are schools really admitting them legitimately? Side note. My son is at App and told me a significant football player is in one of his classes and according to my son this player never has...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
AppWyo, do we have any athletes who are getting substantial amounts at present via the NIL? Substantial is subjective, actually I have no idea, but I would like to believe that Appalachian only goes after the players with the best character and talent, instead of the the best players regardless of ...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
It’s going to be interesting to see how NIL effects dollars that were once donated for stadium improvements. I don’t think App will have an issue with this but you could see it at the larger schools. Do you want your money to go to building a better team, or improving your stadium? My guess is that...

Re: 2024 Schedule
Clemson projected to top of ACC, we won't be playing a weak Hole team. I'm guessing we will be at least a 2 TD underdog. Yea I know , Michigan and A&M...any given Saturday.... blah blah blah. Not saying we are going there to take an ass whipping and a paycheck. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/othe...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
Wasn't part of the original discussion with the move from FCS to FBS level that eventually the Power group would eventually split off? Honestly a G5 championship would be fun. Based on Cincinnati performance last year in playoffs it would be a extremely long shot for App or any G5 to win the Power ...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
"The SEC and Big 10 are going to ruin college football..." https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/39620092 College football is well on its way to destruction. We can only hope that the fans ultimately reject college football becoming a semi pro league. At this rate, before long players won’t even hav...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
The idea that the SEC and the Big Ten get auto byes is absurd beyond setting aside a certain number of guaranteed spots for them. They likely would get those spots anyway but saying they get byes is an insult to say a Clemson or Florida State. The ACC is a very weak conference which is why both Cle...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
I've asked this before but I don't know if I ever read a reasonable explanation. Who decided officially that half of the division 1 FBS (or whatever we play) college football teams are relegated to a G and the other half are elevated to a P? I totally get that money and sizes of athletic budgets va...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
One of the biggest enigmas to me with this whole thing is why is there no mobilization of the G5 and smaller P5 schools to secure opportunity. I know nationally no one cares about any one entity, but together, those millions of fans do actually matter in engagement and content. Lose them and your p...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
If you theoretically took the entire fan bases of every G5 team and put them in a room and asked them if they cared whether or not their team played in the CFP or a separate division (with their own championship) or some other format I'd bet that a huge number would not either know the difference o...

Re: UNC System Board of Governors now has power to control conference moves among state schools
I'm not a fan of the Holes by any stretch, but I'd be royally pissed if I was.....UNC is now tethered to NC State and can't make any moves without dragging them along....could you imagine us being denied moving to the Sunbelt the BOG because the Sunbelt didn't invite Western? The N&O is paywalled.....

Re: More NCAA stupidity; can't make this up
I told my swim coach wife and she immediately groaned, not in support of the swimmer, but knowing the rules are such that the race is not over until it is over for all in the heat and until you stay in your lane and do not celebrate. Refs made the correct call based on every rule organized swims me...

Re: NCAA loses ability to control NIL in court
I really believe that interest in college sports will fall off and then ESPN will panic and try to fix the whole mess. By then it may be too late. It really is odd that the people making all the money off college sports don’t view this as an issue. NIL could work but a flat out uncontrolled free fo...

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
Currently, the gaudy, undefeated record is more important then SOS for the G5. Look no further than Lib last year. I love our P5 games, but id rather be in the Playoffs and play a lesser P5 then the Clemson's and UGA's of the world. Yes, that attitude would have not given us a match-up against Mich...

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
I expect Appalachian would beat Texas. That would do more to get rid of the Group of Five Auto-bid than an App loss.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 11:34 amThey probably want to see the G5 get blitzed by the 5 seed so that they can ultimately do away with the token offering of the game.
