Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
Let’s be honest, would we really want a couple G5 conf champs rated 40-60 be in CFP? I would not. You need to be in top 25 at least to deserve a spot in CFP. Of course in theory, but in reality I would rather see teams that care if they win or loose, not Georgia blow out Florida State. There are st...

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
5 conference winners kind of seem like a lot. Big10 and SEC and maybe the Big 12 should be the only conferences taking up AutoBids. Sorry, ACC...too weak. I'd rather see 3-4 autobids and 8-9 at-larges for the small guys to have a better chance! If they really wanted it to be fair and keep all of th...

Re: Elliott to USCar
What happens with the rest of the staff? Does someone get a promotion? It is another casualty of The New College Football 🤮🤮🤮 The New College Football is just like the old college football we just have more access to information about it. Remember Sparky Woods left Appalachian in a lurch when he le...

Re: 2024 Spring Ball
All joking aside if after 8 games Joey has 3,200 yards (just going 400 a game) and let's say 24 TD's is he remotely in the discussion? Who is the last player from a really good G5 to even get in the discussion for the Heismann? Let's also assume we are 8-0 and Clemson is still pretty good. There is...

Re: Most College Football Wins: 2024 CFN 5-Year Program Analysis
We're tied for 10th with...Louisiana interestingly enough. Pretty dang good! I n the CFN 5-Year Program Analysis, we only give credit to wins over FBS programs. Games against FCS schools are about the paycheck for a layup victory - the FBS teams are way over 90% vs the FCS; more on this in a later ...

Re: App Receiving Votes…No Longer Just One
No one wants to hear this, and for the record I really like the Sun Belt, but there are reputational advantages to the American. With all of the movement no conference is what it used to be. App is in the best place it could be and many schools would like to be in the Sun Belt Conference right now.

Re: Cuts at UNCA
If they become employees I fully expect scholarships to go away. You pay your own tuition at that point. In the long run this could end up cheaper for schools that shelling out for yearly scholarships. I think what you will see more of isn't colleges getting rid of programs, but more athletes skipp...

Re: Unlimited transferring is coming
College football is about to get that much better when they expand the playoffs because you do not have to go to only a select few programs to make the playoffs or be a champion. It will not be an elite few, it will be an awesome many, especially if they take the top six league champions.

Re: App MBB vs Coastal, Saturday, Jan. 20, 4:30 p.m. ET, year two thousand and twenty four, Cure Bowl celebration game,
There are 68 teams currently in the NCAA. Eight conferences on average get multiple bids. At least half of the remaining 24 conferences the best team wins the conference tournament. If they expanded the tournament to 80 teams you could adopt the regular season winner goes to the tournament concept ...

Re: Miami Fl 9 years on team
I like when someone posts about an App guy that he "got a job and is moving on with life". I read this article last night and could not believe the guy actually was in the signing class of 2016. So by the time he's actually done playing two complete groups (based on 4 years of college) will have co...

Historically, App has done quite well with its transfers or maybe they are the only ones we hear about like Daniel Jeremiah; he transferred from what is now ULM.

If the NCAA handles this like it handled UNC-Ch they will not be the ones to do anything about academic issues.

Re: Unlimited transferring is coming
The students that hit the transfer portal without enough credits will not be coming to Appalachian. Those students will be at the Autonomous Conference schools. Those are the same students that are only in school before they go to the NFL. Appalachian's culture is not about taking the best players, ...

Not sure I agree. I do not gamble other than little in office pools. I am very upset. If App. St. has a great player may not be here 4 years as they get a great offer 💸. And, yes, I am in the boat that if someone wants to pay a player, supply and demand...fine....however , it can still make me upse...

Re: Saban
Longtime but recently retired ACC hall of fame coach told me last year….” It just isn’t fun anymore “. I think coaches fall into different categories now. The guys at the middling schools in the big conferences probably like the portal. They can poach the backups who are at the biggies and can hope...

Re: Final conference ratings
thanks op. That is great. Hard to believe how far the American has fallen. The American has fallen, because it went after Markets instead of Schools that really care about their football scores. The same exact model is what brought down C-USA. It may be what brings down the Autonomous conferences a...
