Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
I'd add that being an "average" FBS team by this stage is also a pretty awesome accomplishment. That means we've surpassed essentially half of FBS in just a couple years, despite most of those teams having been at this level for decades and having more resources than us. That's pretty incredible wh...

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
Maybe we should accept that we are an average FBS team. At this point going to a bowl game, any bowl game, is a BIG DEAL. Average? Wouldn't an average team be closer to 6-6? I don't mean that as literal but if we finish up 9-3 and we were 11-2 last year I don't see that as average. The downer part ...

Re: Attendance
Our attendance back in "the day" was not driven by opponent's fans. Only a few opponents EVER brought a significant number of fans to Boone (WCU, GSU, Elon). Even Furman and Wofford rarely brought more than a handful with any regularity. The local HBCU's traveled pretty well (SCSU & NCA&T mostly) b...

Re: Attendance
After 4 home games, App State has an average of 27,436 I think that puts us leading the Sun Belt. ODU: 23374 Miami: 34658 Ga. State 24782 Idaho 26931 In 2007 the attendance at the Lenoir-Rhyne was almost 29k. I don't think that was because L-R travels particularly well. I feel sure that had we won ...

Re: What happened to our fanbase?
The Michigan effect has worn off. If we can't schedule (and beat) named P5 opponents, this is what it is.

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
Unfortunately, I dont. You also cannot discount that SBama and Troy are bitter in-state rivals that are just 2.5 hours away from eachother. 5th all time meeting, let's not go crazy with a bitter rivalry. Both schools have done a great job of making it just that. I understand that Troy took 20+ buse...

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
Does anyone know if that TV money is more than what we would make on a home Sat.? Thought i heard $250k which is alot less than what we make. IMO we cannot afford these midweek games, they cost us too much money. 30,837 showed up to see 3-3 South Alabama, on a Thursday night, play Troy even though ...

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
I wish the Sun Belt would limit each team to one home weekday game per season and two total games per year. It does a number on attendance to do two home games per year. They want that ESPN money tho. Does anyone know if that TV money is more than what we would make on a home Sat.? Thought i heard ...

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
We will have at a minimum one mid-week home game probably two in GS and Troy. 2017 - FCS, Wake, ULL, Troy on Wednesday or Thursday, GS on Thursday, and NMSU. Next year's home slate will be 1 or 2 weeknight games, Saturday after Thanksgiving and now a FCS opponent. That is going to be a tough sell w...

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
Agreed with EastHallApp here. Why play any FCS team you could lose to? That's how Jim Grobe did it at Wake. We're no Wake, we would win. Iowa and Kansas State aren't Wake, either. We might win that game, we might not. The point is, it's a (figurative) no-win situation. If we win, it does virtually ...

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
I perfer Southern's 2016 schedule to what our 2017 looks like. You realize they played the exact same Savannah State team some are griping about here AND had only five home games? You find that preferable to six home games including a visit from an in-state P5 that's probably going bowling this yea...

Re: 2017 Schedule Speculation
It is no shock but it still sucks. Two weekday games and Savannah State makes for a pretty crappy home schedule. That is the fact. Exposure and all that stuff is fine but there is just no way to put lipstick on that that schedule.
Which is why I'm such an advocate of playing a winna...

Re: Theoretical new conferences
In truth, with Idaho and New Mexico St. leaving and Coastal joining, if there was a way to add UAB and So. Miss, the Sun Belt would be an awfully nice conference.
