Thanks, 94. While the TP gives athletes an opportunity to switch schools as they see fit, it has also radically impacted the way coaches manage talent.
The sword clearly cuts both ways.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Where Marsh was concerned, the "bad thing" was also the "good thing." It was bad because Marsh tended to be a ball hog and didn't adhere to DK's game plans, both of which irritate coaches and teammates. But it was good because he showed the opponent a look they weren't expecting, which led to scorin...

Re: Two minute warning, helmet comm approved
Is it just me, or is it tragic that a sign-stealing scandal involving a major P5 program had to happen before FBS programs were permitted to utilize in-helmet comms?

Re: Women’s basketball
Looks like nearly half the team is in the portal - I counted 7. Expected with the coach change I guess. At least there is more of an explanation for this one. It's like 94 mentioned on another thread...there could be any number of factors causing the exodus in addition to Coach Elderkin leaving. Pl...

Conference standings are pretty crowded in the middle of the pack. Could be a wild finish this season!

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
Hope we don’t let them become a rival. Do that by beating them consistently. This line of thinking was why I scratched my head when our fans rushed the field after beating CCU at home in 2022. Regardless of their record at that point, we'd beaten them four of the last five meetings. I just didn't s...

Historically speaking, interims are rarely hired to backfill that type of opening.
But based on her track record, I think Dr. Norris would make a fine Chancellor for App State. As Dean of the College of Business, she overachieved as a fundraiser and is generally well liked and respected.

Wait...so yall built an octagon in the parking lot of the Mountain City Food Lion? No. It’s portable so that we can rent it out for parties. Why rent a bouncy house & hire a clown for your kid’s birthday party? Renting the octagon sounds way better. Just Imagine your spouse’s delight when the octag...

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
“If this law gets us closer to a federal or a national solution for college athletics then it will be more than worthwhile," University of Virginia athletic director Carla Williams said. "Until then, we have an obligation to ensure we maintain an elite athletics program at UVA." The beginning of th...

Re: New WBB coach: Alaura Sharp
My first job after leaving App was in banking as a commercial lender. One thing you learned was you can always count on two types of people being hard workers: people who grew up in the restaurant business and people who grew up on farms. I can't predict how much success Coach Sharp will have at App...

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach
Coach Sharp's hiring is a great move. And that's saying nothing against Angel; she's a great person and persevered through a lot of trials while leading WBB for 14 years.

All kidding aside, traffic wasn't bad considering it's shoulder season in the High Country.
The good news is we have a variety of detour options when (not if) this happens again.

What a shame these rockslides didn't happen in early June when every 80-year old Floridian is trying to get up here for the summer.
