Re: Women’s basketball

Looks like nearly half the team is in the portal - I counted 7. Expected with the coach change I guess. At least there is more of an explanation for this one. It's like 94 mentioned on another thread...there could be any number of factors causing the exodus in addition to Coach Elderkin leaving. Pl...

Conference standings are pretty crowded in the middle of the pack. Could be a wild finish this season!

Everyone is capable of speaking for themselves.
^^this^^

It all depends on the era in which you attended App. You may not agree, and you're entitled to your opinion.
But current students do consider JMU to be a rival. When you're up here, just ask a few.

Re: Hold on to your hats ….

Hope we don’t let them become a rival. Do that by beating them consistently. This line of thinking was why I scratched my head when our fans rushed the field after beating CCU at home in 2022. Regardless of their record at that point, we'd beaten them four of the last five meetings. I just didn't s...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….

Historically speaking, interims are rarely hired to backfill that type of opening.

But based on her track record, I think Dr. Norris would make a fine Chancellor for App State. As Dean of the College of Business, she overachieved as a fundraiser and is generally well liked and respected.

Re: Civility Request/Challange

Wait...so yall built an octagon in the parking lot of the Mountain City Food Lion? No. It’s portable so that we can rent it out for parties. Why rent a bouncy house & hire a clown for your kid’s birthday party? Renting the octagon sounds way better. Just Imagine your spouse’s delight when the octag...

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL

“If this law gets us closer to a federal or a national solution for college athletics then it will be more than worthwhile," University of Virginia athletic director Carla Williams said. "Until then, we have an obligation to ensure we maintain an elite athletics program at UVA." The beginning of th...

This may be an attempt by UNCC to get into a, "Better Conference".
You are absolutely correct. But they gotta win some games first.

As long as we don’t talk about this ice & cups or free throws, all will be well here.

As of now, Spillers in position to start at the 4 for Wake next year. All but one big has entered the portal for them.
Crap rolls downhill, so I suppose the amount you receive is merely determined by your altitude.

Re: New WBB coach: Alaura Sharp

My first job after leaving App was in banking as a commercial lender. One thing you learned was you can always count on two types of people being hard workers: people who grew up in the restaurant business and people who grew up on farms. I can't predict how much success Coach Sharp will have at App...

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach

Coach Sharp's hiring is a great move. And that's saying nothing against Angel; she's a great person and persevered through a lot of trials while leading WBB for 14 years.

Sometimes it's good to bring in someone to reignite the spark and get people excited. The timing couldn't be better.

I'm still waiting on a W-2 from WalMart for all the self-checking I do.

All kidding aside, traffic wasn't bad considering it's shoulder season in the High Country.
The good news is we have a variety of detour options when (not if) this happens again.

What a shame these rockslides didn't happen in early June when every 80-year old Floridian is trying to get up here for the summer.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

Although it would certainly be an honor if App had schools of law/medicine, that isn’t necessarily what we need. What we need is for more tight-fisted alums to divert some of their nickels & dimes from Starbucks/Vape Shop to App State Athletics. Many here donate to MAF, 3333 & TIGMA, so thanks to al...

South Carolina may have won the national championship, but womens' college basketball has been the biggest winner of all. It's cool how interest in 1-2 outstanding players can be the tipping point. It won't be long before everyone is whining and complaining that they're tired of hearing about the aw...
