Re: Portal time 25-26

I realize it’s early in the process, but I’m beyond ready to see some TP players commit to App State :D

Interesting…the Niners need all the help they can get. Hope they paid him well to transition into that dumpster fire.

Re: Portal time 25-26

With so many players bailing, maybe it would be easier to discuss who's actually sticking around for next season?

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?

Over the past few years, I have not watched complete games of the CFB playoffs as it seemed it was pretty much the same teams (just change out one or two). I have actually watched more non App. St. college football over past week than in past few years. Opportunities for teams not named Ohio State,...

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?

Multiple JMU transfers making big plays for Indiana today. I guess the red jersey makes them more worthy than the purple one. Herby was still taking shots at them for being less than top notch players, but they are functioning as a team. He's still a cupcake. On top of his baseline level of doucheb...

Re: We need a good offensive coordinator

With all of the TP departures we’re seeing, it will be more difficult to compare the 2025 and 2026 App squads.

Re: Portal time 25-26

So…I’ll roll a grenade in here: is money the only reason all these players are bailing? Or is it possible other issues are at play, as the parent comments on X would suggest?

Re: We need a good offensive coordinator

Wearing both the HC and OC hats is possible, but doing it well is the exception rather than the rule. Besides, it’s definitely too much to ask of a guy who’s never been a HC before and Gillin should’ve known better.

Lesson learned…let’s move forward, shall we?

I figured Indiana would win, but the Hoosiers gave the Tide a Sunday School lesson they won’t soon forget.

If you took the under on CFP games this week, you should be happy.

I thought we would have more fans in Birmingham than we did. It was probably my third favorite bowl behind Mobile and New Orleans.
Having the game on the 29th didn’t help. Expensive tickets, a 5-7 record and a depleted roster didn’t help either.

Re: Portal time 25-26

Other than losing Dozier, I’m looking forward to seeing fresh blood in the WR room. The lack of WR focus was endemic and we saw zero improvement as the season progressed.

Re: Birmingham Bowl

Unless you are way more talented and bigger in all aspects of the game, I don't know how you design an offense without plays for a running quarterback and win. It is too easy to defend against a slow quarterback. We have been watching it first hand for years. Only 2 of the 8 teams left in cfp playo...

Mistakes happen, but that's two "oops, we sent that email in error" emails in less than a month.
Maybe the Alumni Association can share some email pointers/best practices with Athletics?
Hold up…just remembered they can’t stand each other…forget I mentioned it.

Re: 12/31, MBB at Old Dominion - 2pm

Looks like getting some R&R did the players a lot of good. But I remained baffled at how poor App’s FT shooting remains, regardless of the player or the season…for that matter.

Re: Birmingham Bowl

If Wilson decides to stay and DLo is committed to giving him a chance, I wonder if the QB whisperer on the staff can help with his accuracy. I get that he had an on target throw to 8 down the sideline. However, there were various throws that were not even close to accurate (D1 FBS accuracy). He see...

Re: Birmingham Bowl

Some of yall are crazy. How can you question a coach’s talent evaluation when you look at results? App played literally the same team twice, once with starters and once with mostly 3-4th string guys. The starters lost by 2, the backups lost by 19. Wilson and a couple other players showed some flash...

No RB coach (Aashon Larkins) listed in the game notes from yesterday. Maybe a sign of things to come.
Wasn't Aashon Larkins the guy who was a defensive assistant at every stop until he showed up on the mountain to coach RB's?
