Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
What is the difference between RPI and SOS? The "live" statistics show APPs NC RPI at 52 (very good) but NC SOS at 243 (bad). Does that mean the teams in the NC play tough opponents but because maybe their records aren't good the SOS is lower? The overall RPI is 82 and SOS is 135. Just confused.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
You should win a game when you score twelve runs, unless you give up 12. The one thing you can say about this team, you can never count them out with their ability to score runs. Of course, with only one reliable starting pitcher, it's hard to think we can last long against the top of the league. W...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
I expect “ improvement “ at least on a cycle. If we peaked last season ok , it’s a rebuild but it’s a rebuild from a team that didn’t make post season. There is also the issue of the contract extension of last year , the justification of which was “ that we had turned the corner “. The JMU series w...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Midweek games are important. Experts predict that our conference will send four to six teams to the NCAA playoffs. If we can play ourselves into the top six, we’re in the conversation. I had different expectations that a lot on here. At no point was APP an at large team. Again my opinion. And I'm j...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
It’s not that I didn’ like it, the logic is strange. Nope not really. Most coaches usually use them as a low risk sandbox to give younger guys more seasoning. If you never play the young guys, you’ll never know what to expect from them when the pressure is on. You don't see that much at APP. Correc...

Sorry if you don't like the answer I gave. Conference games are the ones that matter.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 6:26 pmSo these mid week games are nothing more than a glorified practice, that’s a relief.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Starting to look as though my earlier middle of the road comment was a bit off. They still are a mid tier SBC team. (be proud of that- big time conference for baseball) Winning mid week games is always nice but unless your looking for an at large bid for NCAA tourney - chalk these up to learning ex...

arms ≠ pitching Doesn't matters if the PC is green or not. Tough spot for him even if he's been with the program. While Meinhold is a good baseball guy, In retrospect it probably wasn't the best move for a program that needs stability. Sooner rather than later he was going...much sooner than I think...

15 is the magic # to stay away from single elimination play in the SBC tourney. 9-6 in conference play the rest of the way!!!!

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Wilson has been on campus for all of four months so his story isn’t written yet. But I don’t know that I would pull the trigger in assuming that he is the guy in 2025. The plan was for Wright to backup and start next year so I would imagine that will be the thought process with the next man up on F...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Portal opens tomorrow. Let’s find a few Mountaineers! If they took my viewpoint point, they should be beating down the door to play at APP. Looks like App is losing one...I'll let the good people of the YC look for it and watch the panic level go to 10 on here. Gotta go get my popcorn. This is gonn...

Re: App State Golf
Who wants to educate me about women's collegiate golf??? I saw our tournament score and it was 316. 316 divided by 4 is a 79. I would think we should be able to land 4 women golfers that could break 79. Are they playing from the red tees??? I would think with title 9 all of our ladies are on schola...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
FWIW, Marshall has a brand-new on-campus field. Previously they either played at the local YMCA field (no joke) or went 45 minutes to Charleston (where App played last year). More series in Hickory isn't going to magically increase the win total. You just came out of left field no pun intended. Nob...
