Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
I actually think the committee got the right teams in this year under the parameters that they work with. I have no problem with 2 G6 teams making the field. But I also don’t pretend that either could compete with any of the other team’s schedules. Nobody ever thought that 2 G6 teams would make it,...

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
I'm just happy to see James Madison make it. This proves once and for all that App does not actually have to go undefeated to have a chance to make the playoff. Win the conference and it's possible.
At least under the current system and with the ACC currently using nonsensical tiebreakers.

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
The CFP committee always makes a point of emphasizing that they are picking best not most deserving. If that is true then there is no way JMU gets in the field with the #123 SOS. Not as an at large bid, but that's not what we are talking about. They are now one of the highest ranked conference cham...

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
Do, Virginia was No. 17 and JMU was No. 25 in last cfp poll. Hypothetically, if Virginia falls to No. 24 and JMU stays at No. 25, who gets the cfp spot? Virginia is irrelevant to the discussion because they did not win the ACC title. They can only make it as an at-large and 24 would be 14 spots too...

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
Apologies if this speculation on a 14-team college football playoff model has already been broached. Basically it drops the G5’s inclusion from one in 12 to one in 14. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-playoff-mulling-14-team-model-with-varied-automatic-bids-for-big-t...

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
The 2 pac are going to play 6 games with the mountain west in the way notre dame uses the ACC. I would have to assume they would get the nod in cereal polls over other G5 as the mountain west is a solid conference most years. But they are not eligible for an auto bid. Correct. Until they join a con...

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed
If you don't get it at this point then you just aren't going to get it. They will do whatever it takes to keep the mo ey at the top. When and if they can they will keep any and all G5 out and yes, I'd wager many years that will be the case. The 5+7 model will still guarantee 1 G5 spot every year. B...

Re: Bowl Season
Sorry for what is probably a basic question but who is in charge of the playoffs going forward? Who will decide the format of teams? In other words what will keep the powers that be from just changing the format to require any G5 to earn a high enough ranking (like Cincinnati did) in order to quali...

Re: Bowl announcements for other schools
If a player enters the TP before the bowl I’m not sure I’d take them to the bowl game. Maybe a grad transfer. I'm clearly not a college football coach, but if I were, once that player hits the portal, clean out your locker and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Easy to say, but remember tha...

Re: Gameday App @ JMU /Game discussion
Great win for App. I think this is why it's important to wait through a whole season's results. I said at beginning of season we needed to see some improvement from the team under Shawn. Not long ago, it looked like it was gonna be another step back. Four games later, we have already exceeded last y...

Re: Let's talk about Clark
They both never missed a bowl or got absolutely blown out in a bowl either. Or even lost a bowl. We can play this game all day. Louisville sucked and now they are good. Cincinnati was good and now they suck. Dink is 17-19 last 4 years. Why are they in this conversation? Drink was 17-19 his first th...

Re: G5 Over the Last 8 Years
I posted this in another thread, but I'm going to put it out in front of all the eyeballs on The Cabin: 1. I would say that we have been the Top G5 program and set the standard over the last 8 seasons. (some schools have had bigger Flash seasons with an NY6 game or rankings) 2. If we are trending t...

Re: Listen To The Players…
This is the Job that Shawn Clark has spent his entire life learning to do since App lost to Boise State. He wants App to win just as much as anyone who has ever posted anything on this board, probably more. (John Candy) "It's a fair question. It's quite simple, really. I had to win. You see, Derice...
