Re: FB at No. 24 JMU, 3:30 p.m., ESPN+
It has been extremely disappointing to see the lack of progress offensively. Defense played well yesterday, but you have to move the ball offensively to give your team an opportunity to even stay in the game. There is only so much they can do when you are down 3+ scores with zero fight or progress....

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Curtis is a good secondary coach and can recruit. His career trajectory was mostly due to the panthers “scandal”, which was more smoke than fire. All in all, the secondary has defended decently and has had to cover for long periods of time without any pass rush. McBurrows was the captain of the sec...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
See quite a few 2027 recruits getting offers. How are we doing on 2026 recruits? Or are we more focusing on portal for 2026? We have close to 30 commits. Most of the commits for a class will be made before the student is a senior, which is why 2027 is heating up now. As far as who could make an imm...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Personal opinion in terms of priority - OL DL WR CB LB QB FCS and Freshman offer the most bang for the buck. I don't think we should be paying any unproven freshman at all. Use the resources on proven college players. I would put WR below LB on that list and add RB as well since we lose 7. LB prior...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
It will be easier to find another Barnes than to find the money to keep Barnes and improve the roster. And people question player's loyalty to schools...... If we pay him the same next year as this year or even 10% more are we being loyal or disloyal? Is he getting paid this year? I think there is ...

I don't take what he said as not being loyal to the players but a reaction to the reality we are dealing with in the portal now. We are more l...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I think it goes back to the fundamental problem that is the transfer portal. There is no more loyalty or commitment in college football. Everyone knows if things go bad, they can always transfer somewhere else next year. How many of our players (or coaches) even care about the rivalry with GSU? It'...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I think the players showed effort. Energy is different. You don’t get back into a game after down 19-0 without effort.

Yep. Gamble and McCantos both had opportunities to make a 4th down stop by themselves. Both failed.

Re: Stink discussion
I am not worried about what a walk-on wants. That post makes one thing very evident - the players that are holdovers believe they are the SHIT. They believe the program revolves around their being and getting their way. That is not an acceptable culture. Dowell is weeding out the weak to build a str...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
You can’t make a decision to hire a first time HC and then retract your support in year 1. If that is what those in administration are doing, then they are the problem. You have to give a coach time to recruit, learn, make adjustments and field a team to his vision. Right now we have a misfit group ...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Support for D Lo taking a dive. Support among fans or support in the administration? You always expect fans to overreact (and I’m in that bunch) but administrators need to take a medium term view. What is DLO plans for next year? This year is shot maybe we get to 6 wins but probably not. Imo he nee...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
How do you build a culture of people who want to win and not just expect to win? We have guys but not enough. Let’s see what Dowell can do when given the opportunity to do what he does best - recruit.

One of my professor friends (big football fan) has a TE in his class. TE said neither have looked great in practice this week. Hopefully, the are gamers😂. Practice, we talking about practice... Not a game.. practice That’s been Swann’s issue since he arrived to be honest. He is the most talented QB...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
It’s not much of a secret if you watched the ODU game and listened to how Dowell spoke of both QBs. Swann is the better QB when he’s healthy, which he is. He must make good decisions and the players around him must catch the ball.
