Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?

Over the past few years, I have not watched complete games of the CFB playoffs as it seemed it was pretty much the same teams (just change out one or two). I have actually watched more non App. St. college football over past week than in past few years. Opportunities for teams not named Ohio State,...

Probably out of our pay grade, Skip Holtz is available..
Definitely don't want Skip. I am hoping the buzz is true that Loggains is going to bring in an OC. There was rumor that Gillin told him to do it and I honestly think that would be a smart move to help Loggains

Re: We need a good offensive coordinator

I think it's a must for 2026. Garrett Riley is available. Ryan Habich is right down the road. Clemson fans are glad to see Riley go. I know he was a good coach when he was in Boone but is he a good RB coach only or was he just not given authority to do all he wanted with the offense in Clemson is m...

Re: Birmingham Bowl

You can rationalize behavior if you’d like, CFB has a bunch of terrible teammates everywhere now. It truly is everywhere now. The system has created this. As much as we love Armanti Edwards, Corey Lynch, Dexter Coakley, etc I believe 90% of those level guys would have entered the portal and most of...

Re: Birmingham Bowl

I disagree. Although we may have kept Joey Dimes. I do not believe we pick up some of the transfers...and our D with Sloan would have been even worse than what we have IMHO We would have been dire. Our QB room would have been: Wiles, Gillon, and Wilson. Probably Estep who is at Pembroke now and cou...

Is 8 losses one of the most ever in a season?
We had 9 losses in 1977. I'm not sure if we had a year with more than 9.

Re: Birmingham Bowl

Shawn Clark (God rest his soul) would have produced a better result than DL. THIS year. Shawn Clark wouldn’t have had to rebuild, and App would’ve won maybe 2-3 more games. App admin rolled the dice that a new coach, after an adjustment period, could make App better. Think of it this way, if you we...

Re: Birmingham Bowl

triple option every play until they stop it Agreed. These QBs just aren't ready for the limelight yet and stuff like this is why I did not want this game. If not for turnovers we would look good but that is part of the game and one of many things I feared could happen with this skeleton roster. We ...

10 point dog on this bowl outing.
Going in I would have taken GSU with as many as 14 points before I would have hesitated if I was a gambler. It is looking like it might have been safe to take them at 17-20 range.

Re: Official Paint me a Birmingham prediction thread

I'm proud of our guys for picking up this game, and I think the players we will have out there are going to realize this is their big shot to show what they can do. But there's a reason they were 2s or deeper on the depth chart this year, and it sounds like Southern is playing a lot of their 1s. So...

Dabo is running on fumes. Next season is make or break for him.
They will owe him a huge buyout if they want to fire him so I doubt he cares but it does sound like they will fire him if he does not rebound and improve on his win total.

I think he is right about the NCAA. It is time we get a CBA and get these players under contracts with buyouts so we make money when a player is poached.

Re: Official Paint me a Birmingham prediction thread

I have made a prediction for every game but I am not predicting this one. We have so many players in the portal that I don't believe we should worry about this result. I know a bowl win is on the line but I say get young guys experience and see what we have coming back. If we somehow win then that w...

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?

One thing the NCAA and college football need to worry about....the conference games are really not important anymore. I like waht the sunbelt dod wirh our basketball tournament.....it made the conference games matter. The SEC is going to cause their conference football games to not matter. The ACC ...

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?

If a team is really that good, they should be able to win their conference. That is the only way to make it fair and guarantee the best teams are in the playoffs. Anything less is just a beauty contest. You will never have the very best teams in the playoffs until you do, because some conferences a...

Is this a sacrifice to get an OC?
I doubt that is the reason, even if we do get an OC. I think this is just about going to what he views as a better situation and he is getting a pay bump.

Re: Who’s going to Birmingham?

I was under the impression that there is no chartered flight to Birmingham. I really want to know how much money we will net as a program by playing in this game after all the expenses. I guess you have to look at the bigger picture: whatever bowl your program's in plus other post-season income fro...

Re: G6 playoff gaining momentum

Or you go outside the box if you are DG, acknowledge that you are AAA (which is better than falling to AA) and ink the first farm team agreement with a big SEC school. That school provides you with backing, resources and assets (players/staff) which you develop for a year or two and feed back to th...
