Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
Important to remember that this settlement does not do away with payments from collectives. This is revenue sharing by the school. The collectives will still exist. Also have heard some legal experts who believe Title IX does not apply to revenue sharing. It deals with equal opportunity for educati...

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
I’m more inclined to see this as an ends to a mean to resetting the process. $22 million or 22% of the athletic budget is going to affect a great deal of programs. I don’t think athletic programs are going to go away, but there will be some deep, deep cuts. The rule says schools are permitted to ha...

Re: G5 Poll
Not a fan of it. The G5 is still FBS and we play to be a top 25 FBS team, not a subset of FBS.

Re: D1 Board of Directors sets stipulations on Pay to Play and transfers
For those who argued PAC-12 would stay autonomous: The board also moved the Pac-12 from an autonomy Football Bowl Subdivision conference to a nonautonomy FBS conference, which impacts the weight of its vote at the council level and participation in the autonomy legislative process. They’re just like...

Re: UNCC looking to get R1 title
Sadly, App can barely get a doctoral program started (Board politics or something?) where UNCC has about 30 of them, 27ish of which are PhD programs (vast majority in science and engineering). This is an area I wish App would push more in, at least with environmental/sustainable technology, nursing,...

Re: NIT
Unfortunately, it appears that may well be the case… that we will not host. I read one article today, that had us in the last four for the NIT, which would not be hosting. Much of the new changes that the NCAA has made, we’ll just have to see how it plays out. It certainly looks like this years NIT...

Aguilar Named Among Best CFB QBs
Joey Aguilar was listed with the honorable mentions in this article: https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/ranking-college-footballs-top-25-quarterbacks-in-2024-carson-beck-shedeur-sanders-among-best-228404772/ He’s alongside QBs from USC, Oklahoma, and LSU. Nice recognition and glad he plays for th...

Re: NCAA loses ability to control NIL in court
2 really good recent podcasts on this on Yahoo sports cover this in depth. This isn't going to ruin college sports...but whatever impact it does have is secondary to the legality issues...what the NCAA was doing simply isn't legal. Courts have ruled against the NCAA model/restrictions/rules in ever...

Re: Elon getting Charlotte law school.
High point was wildly in debt last I had heard. Their campus is pretty ridiculous. Iron fencing all the way around with a number of amenities. Lots of jersey license plates. Also, its accreditation status is in a warning status as of last summer. Lot of non-compliance issues related to student supp...

Sigh. I don’t doubt he’s a great dude but All I see is another re-tread app coach that couldn’t get a job somewhere else He’s been doing this same role at Louisville and Cincinnati since he left. He’s coming home. GO APPS!! Just curious, What does a Senior Assistant to the Head Coach do? Responsibi...

Re: Miami Fl 9 years on team
I'm more curious in what college credits and degrees he has at this point. The medical redshirt are whatever at this point. What do you do for 9 years? That's a PhD or a bachelor and 2 or so masters. The Athletic did a report on him. Turns out he has a bachelors in journalism and a masters in adver...
