Re: D1 Board of Directors sets stipulations on Pay to Play and transfers
For those who argued PAC-12 would stay autonomous: The board also moved the Pac-12 from an autonomy Football Bowl Subdivision conference to a nonautonomy FBS conference, which impacts the weight of its vote at the council level and participation in the autonomy legislative process. They’re just lik...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
You really do not want the best players, you want the second best players, the ones that rely on their teammates and do not try to do it all. You see teams all the time who rely on one or a few players to do it all and when they get hurt the team folds. Other teams that do not rely on just a few pla...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
When we left the SCON one of the concerns was a bunch of conference mates that nobody cared about and irrelevant games. I'd say we've gotten past that. Southern is the rival. The rest are hated in-conference foes. And Heather Norris would be a good pick for next Chancellor. I would agree that we ha...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
Hope we don’t let them become a rival. Do that by beating them consistently. This line of thinking was why I scratched my head when our fans rushed the field after beating CCU at home in 2022. Regardless of their record at that point, we'd beaten them four of the last five meetings. I just didn't s...

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
Everyone wants to have a competitive advantage. Most believe more money would give them that advantage. Some schools have always had a competitive advantage. What is Appalachian's competitive advantage? because it has never been money.

Re: UNCC looking to get R1 title
Some if not most on this board won’t like this at all but it’s my experience. My daughter started at App and graduated from UNCC. Her experience at App was less than stellar. Her experience at UNCC was very good. App. seemed focused on social engineering and UNCC was focused on the course work. Jus...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….
I hope we get a good one..but IF it’s a too far left or too far right leaning one I hope the student body and faculty en masse walks out. Wouldn’t that be something? Give the big ole finger to the legislature. If it’s far left, the faculty will celebrate and some alumni as well. Not this alum. Woul...

This may be an attempt by UNCC to get into a, "Better Conference".

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I would never ever send my kids to a college that underhandidly funneled my money to pay athletes salaries. If someone wants to throw their money away in NIL then more power to them, but if a college ever started funneling student fees to pay athlete salaries I hope they get sued into oblivion and ...

Good luck proving the tampering. Yes they get free education but that isn’t going to make life easier in all cases. Xaxion Brown is from California. He literally has no one from his family attend his games. He probably hasn’t seen his family since June. I don’t care what kind of scholarship and per...

Re: College Football
Watching Auburn/Florida this afternoon, I got a chuckle out of the SEC's slogan "It's about more than W's & L's" which was plastered all over the arena for the tournament. If it weren't for the money sports and the national exposure they provide, would many institutions possess the national recogni...

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
There's plenty of room to put a third deck over the existing concessions and bathrooms. Might be better to offer a moderate option. Put a roof over the third level with stadium seats (Like the Packers did at Lambeau) and price those between the exposed seats and the premium. Hopefully the demand is...

Re: Student Fees
And that's the point. Athletics and academics should have never been this intertwined. We are charging students 2k+ over 4 years for something they don't use without giving anyone an opt out choice. I think that athletics and academics are more intertwined than anyone would like to admit. When App ...
