Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
Important to remember that this settlement does not do away with payments from collectives. This is revenue sharing by the school. The collectives will still exist. Also have heard some legal experts who believe Title IX does not apply to revenue sharing. It deals with equal opportunity for educatio...

Re: Too many ticket scammers
Thanks for the reminder.GreatAppSt wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 5:55 amMay we please move on from this and un-sticky the thread or delete all together, it's unsightly and unwelcoming for our football board to be headed up with a Scammers thread every day for almost a year now. We get it already. Thanks in advance. GAS

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
How many sports will be cut and how many entire athletic departments will be shuttered completely because of this? The way I read it is that the cap will be $22 million per year to begin with and will adjust based on revenue. That is the number for the P4 schools. What will the amount be for a Belt ...

Re: 2024 T&F Championships
I'd bet it's Title IX. I'm far from an expert on this, but what men's sport would those schools have that would require a women's track team as counterpart? I guess maybe they have a men's soccer team but not a women's, so they have women's track but no men's track? I'm curious, but not curious eno...

Re: Off Season Topic - Best/Worst Road Game Experiences
I'll rate the national championships as the best; particularly the last one.
The worst were Marshall in '95 (even though we won), my one and only time ever going to the Stink, and a monsoon game at Eastern Kentucky sometime in the late 90s.

Re: NC State series in danger?
It is my opinion that, just like South Carolina, NC State will never set foot on the turf at KBS. I hope I am wrong about that, but with the way the separation is moving, there will be fewer opportunities for such games. We just need to make sure that we get paid for the inconvenience until they fin...

Re: Portal vs Grad rate for athletes
Is the portal (and NIL) the main reason our athlete grad rate is relatively low? I know our athletes are at least as intelligent as our rivals. 80 out of 1600 athletes. Or 80 out of approx. 4000 total grads. Is the graduation rate low, or is it just a small number of graduates? That is a very signi...

Re: G5 Poll
CB ran like molasses. I'll add up Howard's Knob on a Boone January night. But CB get's my vote as the passer with the best accuracy we've ever had. Since all Todd Peyton had to do was hand the ball off to #23, truly unfair we can't consider him  Todd Peyton was/is in a class all by himself.

Re: G5 Poll
For a while I felt App’s goal should be to make a New Year 6 Bowl game. Now that things have changed, the goal should be to make the playoff, whether we can win it or not. We can’t win the NCAA tournament but we desperately want to get a bid, so why not feel the same about the football playoff. Don...

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
If we are over 14, then yes. It isn't fair to the athletes to send them to the field without a chance to be successful. If we are at 14 and still sending teams out without a chance to compete then we need to rethink the whole athletic department.

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
Good leaders rise to the occasion. In a group as large as a football team there is more than 1 guy who has what it takes to lead. Give that young man or men time to grieve and then step up. Easier said than done. Our leaders that stepped up in 2022 were not up to the challenge. Were they really lea...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I just saw that Freddie Hicks, the kids from Arkansas St. who hit the buzzer beater against us is transferring back to Tarleton St. Played three years at Tarleton, transferred to Arkansas St. because his dad played there and is transferring back to Tarleton to finish his career. I guess this is the ...

Let’s respect the young man and keep any speculative stuff off the board.

Some if not most on this board won’t like this at all but it’s my experience. My daughter started at App and graduated from UNCC. Her experience at App was less than stellar. Her experience at UNCC was very good. App. seemed focused on social engineering and UNCC was focused on the course work. Jus...
