Re: G5 Poll
Kelly put Notre Dame on probation for illegally contacting players. If you think that is the extent he, and any other P4 coach with a shot at the natty, go to win, cool, you're allowed to believe that. But don't get all defensive asking for proof knowing full well there won't be proof. That's like a...

Re: G5 Poll
If you don't think Kelly and Saban were paying players well before NIL, you are living under a rock... There won't be proof because it's all swept under the rug because there's too much money to be made if it's not... People have two choices. They can either seek the truth or develop a conspiracy t...

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
As of about 5 years ago when I looked in to buying a course with a couple buddies, golf course superintendents are making 100k-120k a year for a public course. The grounds managers are at 60-80k. There are usually 3 of these. And this doesn't include any supplies/material or other employees. That's ...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
We're also on our 14th offensive line coach in 3 years so I am sure that plays a role in the type of player we recruit too. Some coaches prefer footwork and speed to size. Others prefer size and strength. It's not to say one way is better than the other, but I would imagine that has to play a role i...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Just checked Wakes record. It's not that great. Not bad, but not what you'd expect from a team coming off a season ranked #1 for seemingly majority of the season and finished ranked 3rd. I don't really follow college baseball outside of App. Did Wake lose a ton of talent? Or was last year just a per...

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
So university funds can go into it. Now it's not even just school fees, now it can be our tax dollars. I hope this gets nuked with so many lawsuits that it breaks the system. It's one thing if some millionaire wants to buy a player with NIL but I'll be damned if tax money or student athletic fees a...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Once A Mountaineer, Always A Mountaineer in my opinion. I always try to keep up with where former Apps are going/do. I may have spent just as much time checking McLeods stats at Auburn last year as I did Parker for our games. If wanting to keep tabs on players that have raised the level of our progr...

Hebron Rock Colony is also a good place to visit. Easy hike for most part until you get down near river. Once you get to rock formations, you can hop from boulder to boulder. I haven't been in years so I can't confirm, but I have been told Hebron is gone. It was apparently always private property a...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Are we including Bobby Cremins hmmmmm …. In my time in watching App state basketball, I would put it as this... Cremins Kerns Buzz 1st time Fancher Buzz 2nd time (just in terms of coaching that team -- not what he did to the program after) Cantwell/Apke (both the same in my book) Capel/Fox (same as...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
It’s odd that someone who rushes everytime to the defense of one coach that was struggling on the field is reminding us that a coach that just won the conference for the first time in decades isn’t perfect (which everyone has acknowledged). Kerns is the best basketball coach we’ve had during the 30...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
This is a big deal. We can't do better than Kerns. He literally does everything right. He has those kids out at different events. Next year may be not so great. But good for Gillin for getting this right. I don't disagree it's a big deal, but he's had at least two seasons now with a mass exodus. Th...

Matt Present is very good. His voice annoys me, but that's a me issue. He's very professional and a very very good commentator.

Re: 2024 Spring Ball
The 2014 spring game was on a Friday night for some insane reason. Ah, ok.. So, I was confusing the 2 years thinking all 3 were the same year. I think the Friday night one was because a band was playing? IIRC, the singer of the band played at Furman with Coach Stepp and was coming off a tour with a...

Re: 2024 Spring Ball
Satterfield tried it and the attendance sucked. Satterfield tried it once, in 2014, when half the fanbase was still mad about Jerry and coming off a 4-8 season in FCS. Wasn't there one year where there were essentially 2 or 3 spring games? Was that 2014? At least one in Boone and one at Ardrey Kell...

Re: Student Fees
I never once rode the Appalcart as a student.. I paid for other students to ride it though. But I never complained about it because I agreed to it when I said I was going to attend the school. Disagreeing on already agreed upon fees is nothing other than silly. If you don't want to pay athletic fees...

IMO, Texas State and Arky State weren't the daggers. Conference losses happen to every team when they shouldn't.
In my opinion, if dude buddy from UNCA doesn't shoot 6000% from 3, we're in.
