Re: All Spring athletes get extra year
I think this is an irresponsible decision by the NCAA. The NCAA is substantially cutting funding to schools and yet adding scholarship commitments at the same time. Fiscally impossible for most schools to do. Certainly a tough decision. I don’t disagree with you, and of course it will be compounded...

Re: NEZ work today
Wasn't a fan of the patio idea when it was announced and I like it even less now that I see the renderings. Just not big into social gathering spaces in stadiums like bars and patios and swimming pools and hot tubs etc. I wish they'd make field level suites, like the Cowboys or Seahawks have. Terri...

Re: Drink Interviews Update
So earlier today Wash. St. extended Leach which effectively takes him out of the running for Ark. Kiffin has made it known that Ole Miss is his preferred destination, Norvell allegedly has a handshake agreement with FSU. With all that being said the only person left out of the initial four intervie...

Re: Drink Interviews Update
Hope you’re right and they are locked in, but as it relates to the guy doing the game plan (and directly calling the plays) - I’m just considering if it’s reasonably possible to be focused 100% on the immediate task. Granted, most of us aren’t football coaches - but if you’ve ever taken a new job, y...

I don’t think many people understand how hard it is to throw a wet ball in 23 mph wind. Granted I wasn’t there, can’t watch, and listen to games from overseas... but why did we throw 2x with 3rd and 4 and a chance to win the game? It seemed to me a much lower chance of converting relative to the gr...

We did choke ..... and i am concerned we are losing players mentally.... i hope i am wrong because if i am right, some more changes are a comin Based on one game? Wow. Seems like things were rolling pretty good about a week ago. I am sure there will be those that drop in here with their nonsense “i...

Re: NCAA Votes to Allow Athletes to Cash in on their fame
I also find it interesting many of the same legislators and writers defend this NIL proposal on the basis of some altruistic “free market capitalism” basis, yet there is virtually no serious discussion on the cartel that is the “P5”. Does Wake Forest for example have such an incrementally high level...

Re: NCAA Votes to Allow Athletes to Cash in on their fame
we are just opening pandoras box for the bigger colleges to get the players they want. How is this any different than how it already is? As long as scholarship limits are still imposed, it’s not at all. Well, as an example... Say hello to the football-only alumni sponsored Yosef Club! Maybe we don’...

Re: ESPN Bowl Predictions
ESPN owns about half the bowls. ESPN televises over 80% of the bowls. ESPN runs college football. ESPN is part of Disney. ESPN is all about money. Fanbases, eyeballs, equal money. Appalachian State University will not bring eyeballs to a NY6 Bowl game. ESPN is the CFP Committee. Do the math. I didn...

Re: ESPN Bowl Predictions
No. 21 Appalachian State App State will need help making a case for the Group of 5's New Year's Six bowl bid -- for starters, Boise State and SMU probably need to lose -- but the Mountaineers let their play talk for them today. Quarterback Zac Thomas and the devastating App offense played Name Your...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Talk to your children about NY6 Appalachian State. All we need to happen now. 1. We must win out with some style points. 2. SMU lose the AAC title game. 3. Boise State lose one more game. I say this because if they run the table I could see the CFP putting them past us if they start to go on a tear...

Re: How do we keep Drinkwitz!?!?
Perhaps a bigger question is how do you keep Zac Thomas next year? Not sure how close he is to graduating.... but in today's world, he could easily pull a GA transfer to a bigger school. At this pace, it could be argued... what does he have left to prove? Could definitely see Power5 school try to "...

Re: APP 17.5 favorite over ULM
Do just enough to win and then shift the focus to the next game. If we truly want to climb we need to beat the spread. We need wins that voters won't just leapfrog others over us for. We need something like 42-13 or 35-0, 38-7, etc. so voters will feel more confident in moving us up. I say this bec...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
We have elevated the Sunbelt. I'd say that we saved the Sunbelt. My issue now is where do we go from here. The Sunbelt in no way helps us now. Unless some teams can truly get their act together we are stuck once again being a big fish in a little pond. I'd love to be in a conference with Houston, M...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Since we've heard ad nauseam how last time we talked about the top 25 we lost to GS, and you just know an insufferable "I told you so" is coming should we lose at any point this year - are the rest of us allowed an I told you so since App somehow overcame this thread to beat ULL this week? Or do we...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
I think we have shown enough variety in the way we have won that voters will start to have to throw votes our way since we are undefeated. They may wait one more week, but I wouldn't be surprised if we were 23-24 on Sunday. For somebody that feels like talking about TOP 25 is "a waste of time" this...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
SVP just said to "Rank 'em" on Sportscenter. Rolling into Homecoming in the Top 25 would be a nice treat. 20-25 ranked teams games this weekend: #20 UVA vs Miami FL (2-3) - toss up? #21 SMU - BYE #22 Baylor vs Texas Tech (3-2) - toss up? #23 Memphis vs Temple (4-1) - toss up? #24 A&M vs Alabama (5-...

Re: Louisiana Game Time Chat
How about SMU’s win over Tulsa? Minnesota’s win over GaSouthern? A win is a win. And defense counts as well. I am much happier with a 17-7 win relative to 54-47. No question our offense can and will score. But the defense made a statement tonight!
