We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
So will there be contract negotiations between the stud free agent quarterback who is demanding $10m a season, or that 6’8” LeBron type power forward who can command pro level money? It will be interesting to see how this money is distributed and will this be public knowledge? Will there be a colleg...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
Is there such a thing as being academically ineligible anymore? If that no longer exists what’s the point in actually awarding and paying an athletic scholarship? Why not simply just sign 85ish football players, let them find their own places to live, pay them their salaries from the “scholarship fu...

Re: SBC Bowls 2025-26
Just looked it up and the last 3 New Orleans bowl games each had a reported attendance of under 15k. The one in 2021 was under 20k. Why would most App fans who live in NC want us to play in that game if the goal is to have one more game to attend? If we don’t make the CFP or NY6 seems like a Dec 23 ...

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Wonder how many of those 4,938 have ended their careers because they were provided a path to do so. Exactly. Isn’t the general statistic that about 60% of the annual Portal entrants don’t end up with another school and wash out? If that’s true most fans simply focus on the upper echelon of athletes...

Re: Dino on ballot for CF HOF
I was in school when he played and was drafted. If I recall during his interview he was asked why he would be a good pro- I’m paraphrasing but I believe he said “I like to hit people”.

Re: 2024/25 post mortem
If you only used football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball as the Cup criteria how would the standings have looked for say the last 10 years? I think that would be an interesting graph to see. All sports are important but if we only based this on the top ones how would it look?

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I totally agree with the scholarship statement. I would think that guys choose to play college baseball for many reasons. Obviously there are the select few who have legit chances to play pro ball, there is the next group who think they will but probably won’t and there is that group who plays for t...

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
How many former App players have had nice runs in the pros but didn’t really get conference accolades while in Boone? Seems like quite a few weren’t really considered great in college but had good careers in the NFL Are you referring to Ryan? People forget he was a two-time All-Sun Belt pick by coa...

Re: 2024/25 post mortem
As much as I enjoy football it really is amazing when you think about it how much over emphasis is put on it and how so many people absolutely live and die (many on this board) with the game. I admit I like the countdown and look forward to the season but it’s not life itself. There are countless nu...

Re: 2024/25 post mortem
Obviously those two sports drive the ship and unfortunately nobody would care if we won the Cup based solely on winning titles in Olympic Sports (if that is even possible).

Re: 2024/25 post mortem
If you took all of our sports and compiled a total based on how we finished on a scale how would 24-25 have ranked in terms of say, the last 30ish years? Hopefully that makes sense. I assume there is always some sort of commissioners cup so maybe someone knows. I’m sure there were SOCON years where ...

Re: Doeren Scared of App State?
A few years ago, Army went to Yale for the 100th Anniversary of the Yale Bowl. And Yale won in overtime. I consider that a special circumstance. It wouldn't have counted for Army's bowl eligibility anyway because Yale didn't have football scholarships (must have 56 average schollies over the last t...

Re: Doeren Scared of App State?
What exactly is the best schedule for a team like State? Should they play FCS? Play traditionally different power schools? Play G5’s from the MAC? Seems like there is some excuse or rationale for not playing every team.

Re: Doeren Scared of App State?
No coach of a mid tier team in what is probably the 4th rated power conference should hold their nose up to what is normally a good or highly regarded G5 school. Not a great deal of difference. When you struggle to go maybe 8-4 in the ACC why are you concerned about playing an in state school? Just ...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
I always circle back to the 5 percent rule of thumb. Most serious issues in society are generally caused by the 5 percenters- 95% live life within the bounds of both the law and common decency. In college sports we have always had the 5% who either demand something beyond the standard like being pai...

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I can see this topic going from the baseball team to NIL and profit sharing but I’ll ask this probably naive question. How on earth is any profit sharing going to work? Let’s say for the sake of argument that App State scrapes together $2m “extra” revenue to shell out to our athletes. How much is th...

Side note we used to hit Makoto’s lunch back in the mid 80’s as it was about $3.50. Hard to believe. I only mentioned that as it’s stayed in business at least 40ish years.

Lived in Hoey for 2 years. I recall parking my car over there (briefly) as I was moving in. Looked out my window only to see the tow truck about to hook me up! I think I convinced the guy to let me move it. Don’t know if I actually ever ate there.
