Re: 62 mil GA HS football stadium opens
This is Buford GA, in Gwinnett County (2nd biggest county in state), but the Buford City runs this high school and not the county. Thus they fund the city school system and have money because the city has money. Little factoid, Gwinnett County is a very large school system, one of the largest in the...

Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article
Agree it was the author, not Loggains making that Arkansas reference. Now that I think about it, It appears that most Alumni don’t actually work out as HC. Maybe it is the pressure, internally and externally, that creates the rifts. Great article on subject. Here is a key quote that we all should r...

Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article
I liked the article. There is really nothing in there that surprises me but it does give some insight into what DLo is thinking as he interviews players. He is also realistic that to compete there will be a few that you do you have to "play the money game" with them. He tries to strike a balance and...

Re: QB1 battle?
I think it is an insult to the losing team when the other team takes their foot off the gas. So no don’t insult the loser if you are up big. Respect your opponent and beat the crap out of them until late in 4th qtr.

Even though LaTech may be voted in, did/will App still be a NO vote? I hope so. And who else is with us?

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
For those wanting Ohio, they have apparently been approached by Sun Belt. I don't think many of us had thought of adding Ohio until we found out they were interested. I don't know if the SBC reached out to them first or they reached out to us but I would not be opposed to them. I don't want them if...

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
When I wake up on GameDay, none of the 3 get me excited about going to see the opponent. Although there is pressure to do something, patience may be best course of action. Who knows, something may come our way that is intriguing to App. St. versus adding to the conference. Although I like our confe...

Re: QB1 battle?
I believe Aguilar was the better option, but it needs to be stated that Burger broke his middle finger on his throwing hand on the sixth play of the season after leading the team into the red zone on the opening drive. His finger was bleeding through the bandages by the time the switch was made and...

Re: QB1 battle?
I know hindsight is 20/20 but, I could easily see in the first few series of Burger vs same for Aguilar that Joey was obviously better. Keep in mind it was against inferior competition, Gardner Webb, and anybody we believed would have been the starter (and 1st or 2nd backup) should have been able t...

Re: QB1 battle?
Another point on player competition, sometimes it comes down to being in the right place at the right time. We have seen it SO many times, especially in the pros, where a good starter goes down and the backup picks up and delivers in the moment, history made. Most coaches are going to analyze and go...

Re: QB1 battle?
You get that experience with game time. Aguilar had the “real-world” experience over Burger because of JUCO and Swann has the experience over Kohl because of starting at Vanderbilt. We know now why Burger was named the started over Aguilar - the staff wanted players to fit their scheme instead of f...

Re: QB1 battle?
Kohl looked better in the spring game, but when Swann made good plays, you can see why he's in the lead. Quicker hand on an RPO, zips the ball in, better decision maker. Interesting observation and how you explained it. It reminds me of what we saw in Burger vs Aquilar in Game 1 two years ago. Aqui...

Re: Title IX Lawsuits
This is a major can of worms, every corner you go forward you also uncover a new issue. When it was a quid pro quo of student receives a scholarship (which has inherent value) in exchange for participating in sports, it was simple. Just equalize between male/female sports. The students did get free ...

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
In fairness to Tx State I can’t say it is a bad move for them, the money looks good now and the PAC is basically the best of MWC and WaSt and Oregon St. I probably would do the same if I were them. How it works in long run only time will tell. They don’t has much history to this point so maybe they ...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
Let me ask some historical questions about how athletic departments have been funded in the past. I don't know so I am asking for some inputs from folks that are in the know. How were university athletics funded in 1960's/1970's? same in 80's/90's and again 2000's-2015ish? What or has anything chang...
