Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
The question was would you notice and not who is winning championships. The fact that they are winning championships and people would not notice is actually kind of telling. Wrestling adds more seats every year and has grown attendance after going to ticketed entry with rising prices. People would ...

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
I am going to go back to golf because Stonewall is speaking golf often on this thread. It would not kill us if we gave up golf but raising money for golf in the area App is located should be easy. You could literally get each country club in the area to sponsor a golf scholarship. I bet each course...

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
IF funds were to be reinvested in other programs baseball might be one to look at closely. We play in a marquee conference and there is a ton of interest in college baseball. Not sure how additional funds would really make a difference but in my opinion we aren't very far off from becoming a progra...

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
Probably shouldn't be spending millions on a new stadium for a team that is 8-38 in conference the past 2 years and is up against the "difficult weather" every year. Can't recall but maybe that's grant money or state funded money. This could probably be said about a few teams over the years though....

Re: Softball Coach gone
Hate it. She's a great person, and wish her the best. I thought it could happen with new facilities coming on board. I would love to see the team get more publicity, and do fundraisers specifically for softball, though i dont know how much interest that would generate. They can compete on a regular ...

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
It seems that any construction at KBS will happen after the 105 project (which is behind schedule and over budget) and the IPF (which seems to have its own funding issues) are completed. And of course all of these should be behind keeping Kearns (which should be our top priority). Rapid inflation h...

Just when you think the coaching carousel is done! I saw this late last night, but thought it was a rib. Nate Oats and Scott Drew are probably 1 and 2 for this one, can't wait to see the ripple effects from this job opening.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
One opening that Kearns was a finalist for that is open, but I'm not printing it. His name has come up a lot on their message board.
I don't want it to happen, and don't think it will, as they will have an abundance of candidates.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
We are going to do some renovations, which are needed. I don’t see the need for more capacity in these uncertain times unless the funding is guaranteed up front. This. Waiting to see how the stadium restrooms get renovated. We need to prioritize finishing 105, so Indoor can eventually begin. Then, ...

I'd have to look back, but if she does, that would be about the 6th chancellor in the state system to retire/resign over the last year.

Highly doubt Gillin leaves for Mizzou. Case of big fish, small pond. Kearns will have opportunities offers this off-season, no doubt.

If his contract is up at the end of the year, time to negotiate. Always good to have some leverage, or rumors floated to make leverage.

Re: Cuts at UNCA
There are going to be winners and losers in all of this. I do hope App State is on the winning side in 40 or 50 years. My wife and I were discussing this tonight. Many smaller colleges up north are feeling the squeeze and either closing or merging with other small schools in an attempt to keep the ...

Re: Cabral to WVU
I wonder if we could pull someone up from the FCS rankings, like a successful DC, that would still see a significant pay/resume bump by coming to App? Florida A&M had a top defense, ran by someone who has SEC ties. Just a thought.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
Gotta hurt a little. No East expansion or new Indoor, yet. Does anyone know if we are the only SBC team without a full 100 yard indoor practice facility? I was told that before, but never looked into it.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
Good God people, give it a rest. There are actual plans to expand to 40k, which is an understandable hot topic. What exactly are we giving a rest? Exactly! Plans are made. Seats are being sold. Give it a rest and let things play out. Quit arguing over how many angels fit on the head of a pin as anc...
