Re: 2025 Women's Field Hockey Season
In the previous 4 wins, App did what a good mid-tier team is supposed to do to weaker lower tier teams with solid and sometimes easy wins. Yesterday, UNC did to App what an elite team is supposed to do to a good mid-level team, with a solid 5-0 win against the Mountaineers. When competing against th...

Re: 2025 Women's Field Hockey Season
Women over Davidson 7-3 in Boone. 3-0 on season. It was 3-0 and then 4-3 and ladies opened it up again late in the 4th period with 2 goals with under 2 minutes to go in the half. My favorite random field hockey stat - the most dangerous time for a team to give up a goal is during the 2 minutes imme...

Re: Cumulative Team Sports Record
Volleyball had a heck of a weekend in Charlottesville.
I'm guessing FH will likely be 4-0 going into next weekend's match against the #2 ranked Tar Heels. It would awesome (and unlikely) if they are undefeated a week from now.

Re: 2025 Women's Field Hockey Season
By quality, do you mean quality of play or quality of production? I thought the issue was not having production facilities there or at the soccer field that was the problem. I will be curious if softball is on ESPN+ this coming year. I am sorry for the confusion. I definately was talking about A/V ...

Re: 2025 Women's Field Hockey Season
The ladies did to Towson what a good team does to a not so good team. A six goal win is a blowout in FH. 3-1 over Georgetown isn't a blowout but a solid win, Georgetown is traditionally pretty bad but has improved a little recently. Coach Dinsmore is really doing a nice job with the team. They shou...

Re: 12 NC high school players sign NIL deals.
Only 12? What constitutes an "NIL deal"? Because in reality, by a loose definition of NIL, the number is probably in the 1000s. I personally know dozens of kids who get free or discounted gear in exchange for linking their social media accounts to the gear vendors' sites, in a number of different sp...

Re: Two more?
I am inclined to think the SBC, AAC, and CUSA need to be reorganized into 4 smaller (10-12 member) regional conferences. We don’t need to be with any CUSA teams not named WKU. In general, I agree. What I'm thinking by dividing the 3 conferences into 4 smaller regional conferences would be a sort of...

Re: House of Reps bill on NCAA issues
I'm not sure why athletes can't be employees..... I was an employee of the school as a student. I went to class as a student and worked at Legends as an employee. I think making them employees opens the door to a player filing a lawsuit saying that he shouldn’t be required to attend class as a stud...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
The Supreme Court actually said it was broke, in a unanimous decision. Like it or not, in our country that means that it was broke. We will just have to disagree on that one. Honestly, what is there to disagree with? My post was not an opinion; it is a fact. The Supreme Court is tasked with interpr...

Re: Eastern NC BBQ
I interned in Lexington one summer while at App and ate Speedy's or Lexington BBQ for lunch at least 3 times a week. Good times.
But I like Texas style brisket best.....sorry, I know I am a disgrace to every other native North Carolinians, and will now see myself out.

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
Equipment budget is not the first thing I think of when cutting spending in a university athletic department. I would think it would be the last place to see cuts. UVA (who you would think has enough money) makes their field hockey goalies supply their own goalie gear for use in games. Most schools...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
There is a lot of bloat in athletic departments and a lot of the bloat is with support staff. For example, look at the 9 schools my daughter talked to for field hockey. I'm using that as an example because it is a low profile sport that generate no money for the university. 2 schools (1 ACC, 1 BigTe...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
The biggest P4 will still have different college sports. The SEC especially has been pouring money (earned from football primarily) into all kinds of Olympic sports for years. Look at the swimming, gymnastics, track and field, etc championships and there are tons of SEC schools involved. Also look ...

Re: 2024/25 post mortem
Should non-Sunbelt teams carry the same weight? I would say high profile sports carry more weight, but amongst lower profile sports, conference affiliation shouldn't factor Also, the Sun Belt needs to sponsor field hockey (3 teams) with the 2 CUSA members thrown in (and Longwood too I guess for 6).

Cross country x2 A: conferences champions Golf: x2 C probably good as we can do x 2. Track/field x2 C: slight imp...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
Well, just my opinion but although I completely agree that NIL needs to be reformed and have some governance applied, a presidential executive order is absolutely NOT the way to do it. Feel free to disagree. I agree in principle it certainly is not ideal, but since EOs are theoretically about instr...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
So, this is related to the NIL mess. I have always enjoyed watching college softball, but haven’t watched too much lately. I decided this weekend to watch a few games including App and some nationally ranked teams. There wasn’t a single mention of NIL, the portal, transfers, etc. They did talk abou...
