I went to ASU. I give my money to the Yosef Club and the Appalachian Fund. I never missed a game at KBS or Varsity Gym for a televised game featuring the Tar HEELS. Why can't people just respect the decisions of others and agree to disagree?AppinVA wrote:It's impossible to serve two masters.

Re: Say it ain't so, RoyBoy
I also root for LSU and UCLA ( the one in California). I have my own rooting interest for all of them. How does that make me less loyal to my alma mater?

Re: Say it ain't so, RoyBoy
Being a fan and having a loyalty are two different things. Do I root for Carolina? Yes, except when they play ASU in anything. Thanks for proving my point that people see and read what they want to believe.

Re: Say it ain't so, RoyBoy
You are not talking about me. My loyalties for sports teams go in this order. 1. Any team wearing the black and gold. 2. There isn't a two because I didn't go to any other school. Do I root for other teams in certain situations, yes. Do I admire other school's teams. Sure. I can understand your feel...

Carolina basketball has not served any sanctions or penalties since Smith was the head coach and to the present. If you wish to paint a broad stroke across the basketball program because a kid was in posession of an illegal substance that many think should be legalized then I can't help you. I am a ...

Re: Say it ain't so, RoyBoy
Butch none of those programs wrote a book about doing things the Carolina way, none of them pretended to be better than others. If you are looking for something good to be said about that type of attitude you came to the wrong place. Hypocrites The book you are referring to was a leadership book wr...

I have been to Hendrix and I enjoy it.appyirish wrote:I cannot comment about the school system (I graduated from East Rowan in 1979 and have lived in the Raleigh area since 1984).
However, for BQ I suggest Hendrix and M&K ( Granite Quarry).

I don't know if you want to push this from Salisbury, but Hickory Ridge High and Middle, along with Harrisburg and Patriots Road Elementary schools are building a phenomenal academic resume in this area. All brand new schools, all near Harrisburg. Thanks. I will look into those schools. I don't min...

Cocord/Kannapolis/Mooresville
It looks like my company will be relocating me soon and one of the possible landing spots is going to be north of Charlotte (Salisbury). I am doing some prep work and was hoping that some of you can give me some ideas of schools. I have one daughter that will be entering high school and one in middl...

Re: Who becomes our Rival?
UNCC offers a chance to start a grass roots rivalry, but I would prefer a yearly game with Wake of the ACC or perhaps a game with ECU in Charlotte if they won't come to Boone?

Re: UNC-Charlotte Spring Game Draws 14,000
The scenario for App, ECU, and UNCC to take some of the limelight away from the big four is there for the taking. If they are open to playing each other as often as possible then rivalries can be formed. Rivalries create a buzz and interest from the casual fan.

Re: Discussion with App alums
Listen, we all know that App HAD to do something. Heck, I was one of the founding fathers that coined the term SmallCON. But it doesn't mean that we have to be happy about it or like the way the process was handled. Some of us can see through the rose-colored glasses. I'm trying to understand your ...

Re: Realistic goals for first season in Sun Belt
I think our record might really come down to the order of our conference schedule. The thing that 22 scholarships adds at the mid-major level is depth more than just better players per say. This is why we were beating ECU for 3 quarters and suddenly lost by double digits int he fourth quarter. We h...

Re: Realistic goals for first season in Sun Belt
I think that it would depend on who is in Boone. Home or away, USA, GaState, and LaMo do not concern me. Troy in all likelihood is a loss either way, as is, Ark St and ULL. The rest of the, depend on venue. IMO. Ulm was 6-2 in conf last year and beat Arkansas True, they did beat Arkansas, but how g...

I like the idea of adding New Mexico in all sports. Adding the in their weakest sport makes no sense to me.
