ok..I was at the ECU meeting when Pat Dye called App "the sleeping giant". I went with a ECU supporter to the meeting in Charlotte. ECU wanted App to leave the SoCon and remain 1A.
I had a conversation with Bob Snead and got the reply "ECU will regret this decision" and "we don't to be like ECU".

I was there in 75. Joe Parker was the punter..made Playboy magazine as all American punter. Tangerine bowl officials were at the game.

ECU coach Pat Dye wanted App to leave SoCon when they left. BS told me "we don't want to be like them, they will regret the move up".

I was there in 75. I told several SC fans before the game what would happen. I cannot believe it was 43 years ago.
