Re: Week 4 games
JMU rolls Liberty and wins the "Battle of the Blue Ridge" trophy. This series has the potential to mirror the "Battle for the Old Mountain Jug.

Re: Week 4 games
Watching UNCC-Rice game and I'm going to say what probably everyone on the board already knows, Charlotte sucks. The new coach should help long term but bless their hearts they are not good and I can't see them getting better anytime soon. Soooo happy we beat them in the opener. So happy we beat a ...

Re: 1983 Yosef Club License Plate
1983. My first year at App. We were not a school with a long-standing tradition of gridiron success. We were known as a party school attended by Happy Appies. We resented that moniker, but it was true. It was Mack's only year at the helm, and there was an awesome football poster that read "I can't w...

Re: Corso pal......You will be missed.
Lee Corso and Dick Vitale. Can't say I will miss either one. Mouthpieces for big-money college athletics. You might not like the style but have to respect the effect of what he did. He created a lot of great for TV moments. I don't watch Game Day anymore, and have not for over 10 years, but Corso h...

Re: Eastern NC BBQ
I tend to refrain from these discussions, but for Eastern, Wilbur's in Goldsboro is damn fine BBQ and fixins. Here in the Hickory area, Western is a toss up between JD's in Rutherford College and Apple City in Taylorsville.

I am having a hard time adjusting to the new reality of college sports, but I feel just a little better after watching that. Thanks biggie!

Re: Red Bridges BBQ
It has been a couple years since I have dined there and I need to get back down that way. Note to any newbies that might order their sweet tea, it is sweet. I recommend a mix of sweet and unsweetened. My preferred ratio is 50/50. Everything else they have served me has been to my liking.

For the past 6 years I have resided beside their campus. What they have accomplished since then is indeed impressive. I have long suspected they took their ques from the late great Dr. Kenneth E. Peacock. There was a rumor years ago they extorted us on a payday, after which then AD Charlie Cobb chan...

Re: The Platters
I lived in Huey Dorm sophomore and junior years. Talk about great being a stumble away from a fun club. Greatest idea to bring in your own six pack, check it in and then given a punch card. Lots of fun at Happy’s- I forgot the name! I saw the Indigo Girls there, and others. The IGs are the only act...

Re: The Platters
Best concert I ever saw in Varsity Gym was the legendary Bob Dylan. Interesting. I saw his performance at Varsity circa 1993ish and it was the biggest disappointment of any concert I have ever attended. Perhaps it was just poor venue acoustics, but I would have sworn he was way too intoxicated to b...

I think there could be a nastier, a more spoiled, a more I measure my success in life by my alma mater's weekly and seasonal success on the gridiron. So we have that going for us.
