Re: Portal time 25-26
I am retiring to Boone and cannot wait to see App. St. sports. It's the name on the front of the jersey for me.. not the name on the back .. It’s nice that you can see it that way. My problem is that the most of the kids wearing the jersey couldn’t care less about App State or any other of the mult...

Re: Portal time 25-26
I had far more fun watching high school this year, as well as the Panthers.
College football is no longer college football, it’s become comical.
A sad state of affairs for sure.
I was hoping to retire to Boone in the coming years and watch App State sports. I wouldn’t even consider it now.

Re: Watauga Pioneers
I’m a Freedom grad and fan, but hoping Watauga can get the state championship, they have an excellent team and they beat an excellent team versus Sun Valley. I was impressed with the way Sun Valley handled the cold, saw them versus Freedom, they’re a great team and play in a legit conference. I have...

Re: NBA G-League players going back to college
Yet another nail in the coffin.
I still believe before it’s all said and done, college athletes won’t even need to be students any longer.
Sad.

Re: Game day Operations
I try not to criticize these things too harshly because there are many hard working people behind the scenes. However, we desperately need a new sound system, it’s borderline embarrassing at this point. Seems like we could afford an upgrade if we can find the money for a new indoor facility. Hopeful...

Re: Swann starter
I expect that coach knows who’s going to start, he may be waiting to see if another player can change his mind, but I doubt that he doesn’t know at this point. Of course, there’s some strategy being utilized here by not naming a starter yet. Last I heard, Charlotte hasn’t named one either. Either wa...

Re: House of Reps bill on NCAA issues
I'm not sure why athletes can't be employees..... I was an employee of the school as a student. I went to class as a student and worked at Legends as an employee. I think making them employees opens the door to a player filing a lawsuit saying that he shouldn’t be required to attend class as a stud...

I suppose this is a tiny step in the right direction. The collectives were always terrible in my opinion.

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
Feels more and more like this will be my last season caring about any of these so-called college athletics. I’ll just watch high school on Fridays and the Panthers on Sunday. At least in the NFL, every team has the same cap. Such a shame, and all because kids who got a free education were supposedly...

Re: 2025 Softball Mega Thread
I watched a lot of softball last weekend, always loved it. I was able to watch Taryn Mowatt pitch for Arizona back in the day, what a change up that girl had! Anyway, I heard NIL mentioned a few times, definitely quite a few transfers are happening. I’m sure bigger schools are paying for players. In...

Re: 2025 Football Schedule updates
I’m told that a handful of Yosef Club season ticket holders have checked out due to the “pay for play” situation. I’m hanging in perhaps being hopeful that a meaningful resolution can be reached. That’s now , subject to change of course. I'm in the same boat. I've got my season tickets renewed, but...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
So, this is related to the NIL mess. I have always enjoyed watching college softball, but haven’t watched too much lately. I decided this weekend to watch a few games including App and some nationally ranked teams. There wasn’t a single mention of NIL, the portal, transfers, etc. They did talk about...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
I am not really sure what the big deal is. Your school is your school. Things may change, but it is still your school. The changes are for everyone not just Appalachian. So, if everyone has to play by the same rules the system is fair. I would say that the system is fairer now than it has ever been...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
Looking for eligibility time limits to go away. So basically trying to become the USFL in that they want to become the NFL lite. SMH. Yep, as soon as they start sharing revenue they would in their become employees. This means they can't be discriminated against due to age or anything of the sort. T...
