We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Dead to the Observer
On second thought, maybe we should send our ad money to the WSJ since they actually cover us and then send the CO a copy of that with a letter of explanation

The ad thing is a nice thought, but until we are fully funding our athletic programs through contributions, I will reserve any "App related" expenditures for the Appalachian scholarship programs (Yosef Club or Appalachian Fund). Just a thought. I'm thinking that is the biggest bang for any bucks I can afford.

I would comment on Triangle papers and their coverage of Appalachian athletics, but I live in the 21st century where people don't read newspapers.
Are y'all able to get an ASU App on your Jitterbug phone?

Re: Dead to the Observer
It would be a nice poke in the eye to the CO, but it would probably also mean no future coverage either.
Give 'em hell!

"God isn't interested in technology. He knows nothing of the potential of the microchip or the silicon revolution. Look how he spends his time! Forty-three species of parrot! Nipples for men! Slugs!! He created slugs. They can't hear! They can't speak! They can't operate machinery! I mean, are we not in the hands of a lunatic? If I were creating a world, I wouldn't mess about with butterflies and daffodils. I would have started with lasers, eight o'clock, day one!"MAD Doctor wrote:Gonzo wrote:I would comment on Triangle papers and their coverage of Appalachian athletics, but I live in the 21st century where people don't read newspapers.

My wife and I get the Sunday paper only, reason being she clips the coupons, Sunday's edition always contains a lot of them. Most of the coupons are used at the local Food Lion, saves us a few bucks and more than pays the cost of the paper, bcoach wrote:Do they really still print newspapers?

Re: Dead to the Observer
I had a conversation with an editor of our local paper a few years back. We were talking about the industry and his paper specifically. He was offended when I told him I only read their online version. The takeaway is that the problem with the people running the industry think that the populous should adjust to their model as opposed to them adjusting

I actually marvel at the resilience of my local newspaper. Aside from obituaries they mostly publish syndicated content I can read online for free a day or a week earlier, yet they seem to have no problem selling advertising.HeffnerIV wrote:I had a conversation with an editor of our local paper a few years back. Dead to the Observer
Same here. Ours wants to be an art and culture paper. They don't write about anything controversial and they definitely don't dig or protect the public in any real way. Our area has so many Skeletons someone with real interest in 'scooping' could come here and instantly saturate the market.CVAPP wrote:I actually marvel at the resilience of my local newspaper. I think our paper subsists only because advertisers think people read it.
