Black and Blue Bowl?
If App State and Stink can't get in a designated bowl this year because enough FBS teams win their 6+ game by season end, would it be possible for the two ADs to work out a last minute deal to play each other one more time this year. We could call the rematch the "Black and Blue Bowl" and play it at BofA in Charlotte. After watching the MountAineers the last 5 games, I don't want this season to end.

Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
I've already mentioned this in another thread, but riddle me this?
Why would BofA stadium want to squeeze us in between the ACCCG and the Belk Bowl, to go along with the Panthers home games that are left during that time?

Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
I doubt BofA would go for that but since both teams are bowl eligible and it isn't likely that either are going to go to a bowl due to being transition teams I really like the idea of a rematch. It could be the bowl game that both teams deserve but aren't getting. Is there any way we could find another neutral stadium to host the game?

Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
I mentioned this on another thread. Georgia Dome would be a good neutral site and surely they would have an open date between Dec 15th and the end of the year. It would be great to get NCAA approval to allow us an exception for two Bowl Qualifying Transitional teams to play each other in a one time transition bowl. More money for the NCAA and a nice reward for two good seasons.CheckYosef94 wrote:I doubt BofA would go for that but since both teams are bowl eligible and it isn't likely that either are going to go to a bowl due to being transition teams I really like the idea of a rematch. Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
Honestly a great place to have a last min game like this would be Brooks Stadium at Coastal Carolina. It's hosted a terrible FCS Senior Bowl, which included no App State players.
It would mean a trip to the beach for the team and is a stadium where 6,000 fans looks like a hug crowd. The field is artificial turf so Coastal Carolina doesn't mind it getting used. Rent some cheap Myrtle Beach off-season hotel rooms and we're in business.

I'd say the chances for such are between zero and nil. I am assuming that most folks are simply posing hypotheticals here and aren't really serious. I'm more interested in what we do this Saturday rather looking past that game.

I agree, you should never overlook an opponent (hasn't App proved that multiple times). I believe this post was purely wishful thinking (and wanting to prove to GaSo that we aren't the same team they squashed on that God forsaken Thursday night).hapapp wrote:I'd say the chances for such are between zero and nil. Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
I don't have an issue with folks discussing what they would like to see happen. I just don't think it has a chance of actually happening. And we certainly shouldn't go outside the bounds of our boards to push for something. It gives off a sense of entitlement.asunewbie wrote:Buzz Killhapapp wrote:I'd say the chances for such are between zero and nil. This would be fun but neither coach want this. Hate for a player to suffer a career ending injury for nothing.

actually, the coaches would probably love it because that is extra practices they get with the team. the players that usually benefit the most from the bowl practices are the redshirts and backups because they get more repsAppState89 wrote:This would be fun but neither coach want this. You had your chance. Let it go and let the butt hurt flow thru you until next year.
Seriously it would be fun and probably a heckuva game, I iust don't think any of the PTB would go for it. I think the 1st meeting our confidence was peaking, it was Thursday nite and a lot of your younger players were a little overwhelmed and hadn't gelled yet ether. Perfect storm for us. I know it's wishful thinking but "The Ineligible Bowl" would be fun and pretty well attended. I do wonder that since we've both met the win threshold to be bowl eligible, would the NCAA allow additional practice time if nothing else.

TV is the only power that could make this happen and I don't think they are interested. Too hard of a sell to the general, unaffiliated public.

Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
I am clearly in the minority, but I don't want to do this. Of course I'd like one more opportunity to see the Apps take the field--and beating GS would be very rewarding. But, these games as special because we play them once a year. Let's just let it be, and be ready for the gnats when they come to the unfriendly confines of KBS next season.

Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
Forget GSU. How about we get Michigan to come to the Rock for the rubber game? We are tied 1 game apiece and it will probably be a lifetime before we ever play them again. They are also not bowl eligible this year. A rematch with those boys, in December at our place would be interesting. Think our students would flock back up the mountain for that game? The "Break the Tie" Bowl!

Re: Black and Blue Bowl?
This is dreaming. Can't/wont happen for a multitude of reasons. However, I think both schools should push Benson to schedule this game annually for rivalry weekend. The "Black and Blue Bowl " could be a big annual game that could bring some good attention to the league.

This is probably just as likely to happen as the "black and blue" bowl, so why not dream big!?!?bigdaddyg wrote:Forget GSU. How about we get Michigan to come to the Rock for the rubber game?
