Re: Recruiting, 2013
Thanks for the intel. Scout.com lists McClure as having received interest from us. From the little I know of him, he's more interested basketball than football. But I'll add him to the master list.
Re: Recruiting, 2013
Yes. From what I was told people who scout HS football had to get in his ear and tell him his future is football. Unless I understand it wrong, we have offered him to come play both sports but using a football scholarship on him.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
According to Rivals.com, one of the top players on a talent-rich team -- ATH Tshumbi Johnson (5-11, 185) of Immokalee High School in Immokalee, Fla. -- has either decommitted from South Florida or USF has withdrawn its scholarship offer. Given the turmoil at USF these days, it's probably the former. Johnson now lists two main suitors -- Cincinnati and Appalachian State.
Highlights:
All three major recruiting services rate him a three-star prospect. Scout.com's evaluation:
Johnson was the area's Player of the Year as a quarterback and likely will take that honor again. At 5'11 he is being recruited mainly as a wide receiver because of his quickness and speed (also cornerback). He makes a ton of plays outside the pocket where his elusiveness takes over. Athlete. Has shown excellent hands in 7 on 7. Many Florida QBs make this transition and we really like Johnson's ability to make plays in the clutch. -GV

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I came across that earlier today that he was back in the running, so to speak. Might be another situation like we had in the not so distant past where the bigger schools want him as a WR and he wants to play QB. Does he remind you of another QB about the same size 78? Not sure if he's as fast in high gear but he's got some great moves. On another note I wonder if that receiver who made those crushing blocks on some of his runs is available. Looked like he loved to hit.AppGrad78 wrote:According to Rivals.com, one of the top players on a talent-rich team -- ATH Tshumbi Johnson (5-11, 185) of Immokalee High School in Immokalee, Fla. -- has either decommitted from South Florida or USF has withdrawn its scholarship offer. Also looks like he has a very strong arm too. Several of those passes were 50 yards.firemoose wrote:I came across that earlier today that he was back in the running, so to speak. Re: Recruiting, 2013
Sounds like he has some serious interest in Appalachian. I love what Coach Ledford is doing with that group, our offense will be strong for a long time if we can keep bringing in the big bodies for him.AppGrad78 wrote:An update on OL Will Robertson (6-4, 270) of North Rowan High School in Spencer in the Salisbury Post:

Matt Breida, RB, Nature Coast (5-foot-10, 168 pounds)
The latest: The senior standout said Monday that he is planning on visiting Georgia Southern next month. Breida also plans to take an official visit to Toledo, one of his other top choices. “Those are the top two on my mind right now,” said Breida, adding that he’s still surveying his options. Breida said he’s also planning on taking a visit to FIU. Middle Tennessee State visited Nature Coast last week to evaluate him, and Appalachian State is also recruiting him heavily.

I noticed that also. I was going to put that in my post but as you can see it was almost 2 am and I wasn't really in my body.AppState89 wrote:Also looks like he has a very strong arm too. Several of those passes were 50 yards.
