Re: Recruiting, 2015
I don't care where our staff recruits. if they can find talent in the middle of nowhere, then by all means do it!
the days of our coaching staff just sitting back and waiting for the leftovers is long gone. i love that our staff is burning up the roads trying to find us the best players possible and going to great lengths to do so

Re: Recruiting, 2015
From twitter reports two South Dade Senior High School players picked up reported offers from App.
DB Paris Manyou (5′ 10″ 170) of South Dade Senior High School in Homestead, FL
LB Doyle Grimes (6′ 2″ 210) of South Dade Senior High School in Homestead, FL
Info is a little limited on both right now but I'll add more as I get it. However I was able to build player pages for them with video highlights so they are listed on the Main Page. Twitter posts say we are the first offer for each.

Not sure how one can say our coaches "sat back and waited on the left-overs" - Not with all the winning seasons, championships, All-American and All-Conference players and guys who have played or been on NFL rosters - The previous (and current) coaches deserve credit for bringing outstanding players to Boone

Re: Recruiting, 2015
If you compare recruiting styles then to now, it was sitting back and waiting for FBS leftovers. We weren't proactively going out and recruiting kids to come to App like we are now, even after we won titles and beat Michigan, which is when we really should have upped out recruitingWVAPPeer wrote:Not sure how one can say our coaches "sat back and waited on the left-overs" - Not with all the winning seasons, championships, All-American and All-Conference players and guys who have played or been on NFL rosters - The previous (and current) coaches deserve credit for bringing outstanding players to Boone

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Alabama is most definitely an area App wants to increase their presence. I was told that last year we had one coach responsible for the whole state; this year, we have 8 coaches recruiting different parts of Alabama.ASUPATCH wrote:Surprised we are dipping into Alabama so much. With Bama Auburn UAB South Al and the what 7 D1 Louisiana schools. I know there is a lot of talent there for their size but still.firemoose wrote:New day...more offers.
From twitter reports ATH Joshua Thomas (6' 0" 190) of The Montgomery Academy in Montgomery, AL has received a reported offer from App. A player page with video has been added to the Main Page. The three sport ATH is shown as a QB and SS. He is showing additional reported offers from Arkansas St, Bucknell, Furman, USA, Southern Miss, Troy, and UAB.
The idea is that there's a pretty deep talent pool there, and they can't all play for Bama or Auburn (or other SEC schools). And also that big programs from outside the state don't recruit Alabama as hard as they do other Southern states. I think App feels like they can win their share against the UABs and USAs.
Plus, they can tell recruits that between Troy and USA, App will be playing at least one game in the state almost every year. They are also using a similar pitch in Louisiana.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Yeah. It may be. I meant no disrespect to the people of every state that lost loved ones and everything they own this past week. I've spent more than 25 years now in the EMS working on the front lines and have seen and worked more disasters than I care to remember plus being a spotter and chaser. I would never make light of what happens every year. I didn't mean it that way. I should have said something more along the lines of the weather is cooler and safer for the most part in these mountains. I'll go back and remove that post.ASUPATCH wrote:Ouch, too soon?

Firemoose,
Just noticed that we are looking at a young man at lb from Winston Salem with the last name of Mack. That wouldn't be Rico's son, would it ?

I don't believe it is. The last I heard Rico was in the Atlanta area and none of his 3 kids at that time (around 2007 or 8 I think) was named Jason. I'll check and see if I can find anything out.MDaniels84 wrote:Firemoose,
