JT with 9 SB games that would limit us to one BCS payout game. I agree I think 8 games works best. We'd likely play 2 BCS games every 3-4 years depending on scheduling. First priority should be 6 home games a year even if that means an FCS team every other year.

I agree with 8 SB conference games. I like the flexibility that 4 non-conference games would allow us. I would expect one FCS game each year so we have a guaranteed non-conference home game. If so, we should be able to maintain a schedule with 6 home games per season. It definitely is fun to talk about!

Mike I agree that is the most likely schedule year in year out. If we sign two for one deals with a BCS member we could replace the FCS game with a BCS member every third year.

Gotta love the Beacon. I've always said that if I'm about to get the electric chair, that's where I want my last meal (a self-induced coronary to beat Uncle Sam to the punch). I like to take friends there for their first time, and tell them to be sure to take their time ordering and then watch them get abused. Classic!

I'm fine with an FCS team too (if we have 8 conference games) as long as it is a decent local team with have some history with. We still don't know what will happen with conference mandates concerning FCS games either so it might be out of our hands.

Historically Belt members have played one FCS each year or every other year. They get 800k-1M from a BCS level opponent and then pay an FCS program 200k. Unfortunately we will not be able to get SoCon teams for 200k as they would rather get 400k from an ACC/SEC opponent (which they should). We will likely play MEAC, OVC, Big South FCS teams.

If the B1G's new scheduling model spreads to other conferences the SoCon schools will lose those high paying games.

The $800k - $1m figure is a little high on average. For instance, MTSU received much less for its game at UT in 2011. Of course, games at UT, UF, Michigan, Ohio St, etc. will be generally be higher than most other BCS schools since they draw significantly better. As well, not all BSC schools pay big numbers because they don't generate as much gameday revenue. The BSC schools certainly pay more to Sunbelt teams than to FCS teams though.

Also, I think ASU will play an FCS school every year. I believe we will strive to continue hosting 6 home games per season and opponents like Michigan, Georgia, etc. will not make a return trip to Boone - even on a 2 for 1 deal.

According to athletics director Tom Kleinlein, "GSU is on the brink of signing non-conference games with North Carolina State, Navy and Georgia Tech for the 2014 season — and suddenly Eagle football hardly seems like the program that once brought a milk jug filled with Eagle Creek water to playoff games."

And you can expect App's future schedule to include similar opponents. Perhaps then, we won't keep hearing all the whining about not being able to drive to Spartanburg, Burlington, and Cutaweed for conference games.

Dang it! So much for that every other year trip to The Beacon. That is about enough time for the cholesterol to clear from my blood so I could dive into another Chili Cheese A Plenty and sweet iced tea, with lemon of course!

I like me some Beacon, but it is hard to walk when I leave. Plus I think I have to wash my clothes in Dawn! lol
