I went back and watched the game again yesterday. They only called the chop block on us one time near the beginning of the game. The other 2 were for blocks below the waist. Both occasions are lineman went low on someone in the linebacker area of the field. I don't know that they deserved the calls, but they didn't call chop block like I thought.
I thought the one chop block was bogus and the announcers said as much. Refs make bad calls sometimes and that was one. My problem wasn't the calls against us, it was the lack of calls against Penn State. They had two offsides that they couldn't NOT call, but they missed a lot of holding. Apparently holding is OK in the Big10, but what do you expect from a conference called the Big10 that has 14 schools.
I'm putting the officiating behind me, here's to being tied for #1 in the state of North Carolina!!! Looking forward to UNC being the underdog next year as well!

That's how much anyone is paying attention and giving us credit. A load of manure.
It's all about winning, the rest of the nation doesn't care about almost winning. It's about winning and moving on. Hence why Penn st is still at 10 and did not drop. Have to find ways to start winning these games.
Bingo. If we want to be judged against the big boys we can't expect to be graded on a curve.
I've been saying all along that our next step, if we want to be recognized and respected, is to start winning these Power 5 games. Almost beating Tennessee, Wake and Penn State does not count and will not get you noticed...
This is an absolute FACT!

Underdog dynasty ranked us 6th best in the G5.
That is too LOW in my opinion.

Yea I don’t think that’s right. I get we all want to get some more top P5 wins. However, when you get two OT losses against top 10 teams and near loss with Wake..... it does have a similar effect. I have seen more positive national press because of these games (cumulative effect) than winning/sharing SunBelt conference.... not close. The consistency of Scott Satterfield’s program is really remarkable... and to think that we have such a young team is crazy. I don’t remember an opening game that answered so many questions. The clock is ticking for Sat.

We're supposedly the 2nd youngest team in the FBS so that bodes well for the future AND we've got 2 P5 teams scheduled for each of the next 2 years. At North Carolina and at South Carolina back to back next year...

After watching the replay of the game a second time, I noticed numerous holds that should/could have been called on PSU. Also a lot of trash talking in our players faces after a tackle. But that game is history. Players and coaches forget it. Gotta have a blowout win in Charlotte!

You saw the curve Saturday. The playing field is slanted against a non P-5. App with 12 penalties for 110 yards and PSU with 2 penalties for 10 yards. Yea right?
The field is definitely slanted. I didn't get to see the telecast but did see the replay. A lot of holding inside and a couple of PI calls weren't made. They called taunting on us but not them for essentially the same behavior. IT's just like the old days against the ACC. It got so bad one year at Wake the head referee told the back judge to pick up his flag and not to throw it again. Never mind NCSU and the phantom endline.
BTW I thought Bama was the least penalized team, oops, maybe that is the team with most penalties ignored.

In the NC State game, Rick had stepped out and come back in. I saw the game films when I coached under Dave Bright who was an assistant at NC State.

Glad to hear it was legit, I never got to see a replay and wanted to ever since that day. I was sitting in the NCS student section and they were all telling me we got the shaft.

Nope. UNC will make the excellent decision to hire Lane Kiffin. He'll be there a year and leave for a bigger job.
