NC State Looking at Ledford?

I'm not overly confident in the source of the speculation, but NC State is without an OC now . . .

Sounds like that blog writer is the one putting Ledford's name out there; he doesn't actually say that State has or will pursue him.

Regardless, somebody with a more attractive opportunity will come calling soon enough.EastHallApp wrote:Sounds like that blog writer is the one putting Ledford's name out there; he doesn't actually say that State has or will pursue him.

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
State's O-line coach has returned to NIU to be the OC up there as well. So Doren is looking for a couple positions in the offensive staff. Insider info from State is that Doren didn't like Canada's QB progression or scheme and is looking for an OC that'll run something more similar to App's brand of offense.
I don't have the first inkling of how much of the App offense is Ledford and how much is Satterfield, some of you may know better, but my casual observance is that our offense scheme is more Satterfield than Ledford.

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
I believe that assumption would be correct. I think the blogger is implying that Ledford could be a candidate for OL coach, not OC.MtnDevil95 wrote:State's O-line coach has returned to NIU to be the OC up there as well. Doeren's days are numbered; don't know why anyone would want to go coach there.

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
ECU's board seems to think this is a done deal (of course that could be because they want him and are kind of butt-hurt he is probably not going there). However, if you look at Ledford's twitter account; there are many players and coaches now following him.....Take from that what you want.

Sorry - posted this under the ECU / Ledford topic as well...sixtoes9134 wrote:Doeren's days are numbered; don't know why anyone would want to go coach there.
Here's my perspective on Ledford and the open OLine job at State. While he would get a sizable increase in salary, it might only be a 1 year gig. If Doeren has another 3-5 or worse ACC record he is shown the door. Looking at State's schedule next year and losing their QB, a 5-7 or worse total record is definitely not out of the question. No guarantee Ledford would be kept when a new head coach comes in.
In my opinion, I would have been more worried about Ledford taking the ECU OLine job as he would be coming in with a new head coach and can assume at least 3 years minimum of being there. Jumping to State now with a soon to be lame duck coach doesn't make much sense to me. Now maybe a year from now when a new head coach is hired at State, I could see Ledford making the jump at that time but not now.

That's a solid take. Makes sense.ASUGoose wrote:Sorry - posted this under the ECU / Ledford topic as well...sixtoes9134 wrote:Doeren's days are numbered; don't know why anyone would want to go coach there.

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
I do not think Ledford, or anyone else, will leave this year. I sense they are tight as a unit and exited for next year. It may only be a dream and if so I hope I do not wake for a while.

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
I think ASUGoose's post is a solid one as well. Only point where I might slightly deviate is in how hot Doeren's seat is next year. Remember Yow is the AD who hired him (and fired a moderately successful coach to do so), so she's invested in seeing him succeed.
Ultimately I agree that anyone joining that staff now has to factor in the possibility of it being a short-term gig, but I doubt he gets fired next year unless they really bottom out (like 3-9 or something).

Saw he turned EZU down earlier today. If it has also been confirmed he said no to NCSU that is great news.SCApp wrote:Announced earlier today he has turned it down.

I haven't seen anything about Ledford turning down State as I don't think he has been offered anything by State to turn down at this time. It seems like speculation only from the State fan board as Ledford being someone that they feel like Doeren should take a look at.

I've found this website to be a good source for college and pro football coaching moves. GaSouthern naturally making moves to piece their coaching staff together.

FWIW, State hired The Boise State OC for the same position.

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
Pack Pride insiders are saying Ledford is going to accept the O-line job at NC State . . .

Re: NC State Looking at Ledford?
Pretty crappy timing if true with the dead period over tonight. But I would assume we already have the next man up, especially with the coaching conference ending today.
