Poor performance yesterday and a poor season. I was hoping for some positives that this program was on its way up. While watching the Ga Southern and the tournament game I dont see any other positive throughout O'keefe's first full year other than the tie vs uncc. Take Chapman off this team and there is not a single scoring threat. If there isn't a replacement coming in then things are only going to continue to get worse and his will be a short stay. It will be really interesting to see if some of the better players don't jump ship to a different program now that the season is over. This is a huge offseason for him and the direction of the program

We really won't know for another couple years, after O'Keefe brings in at least two recruiting classes of his own. He just joined us back in February, and obviously did not get into the recruiting game here until the last minute, after most recruits were committed elsewhere. No doubt, we need technical, impact players all over the field, including defenders, midfielders and attacking players. We were badly outshot this year and averaged less than a goal per game, so we obviously have work to do in defending, distributing and possessing the ball; creating shot opportunities; and putting balls on frame and finishing our chances. O'Keefe has been around the college soccer scene for a while now and is said to have a strong recruiting network. We shall see.

He's going to need more resources. I've learned from a very credible inside source that he's funded for the equivalent of nine (9) full scholarships based on in-state tuition. That meets the NCAA definition of a fully-funded program but it gets thin in a hurry if he brings in out-of-state or international players. Those of you who've taken a glance at the rosters of the teams we play know what he's up against.
Soccer is a sport much like baseball in that no one gets a full ride. The coach has to pull together his total funding from every source and then decide who gets what on his current roster; and how much to hold back for next season's recruits. It's a tough way to make a living in the mid-majors. But it can be done. Just take a look at Ga Southern and Coastal Carolina.
