Oberlin Students demand doing away with midterms and grades below a "C"

Not sure what to say on this one, but it appears that the precious little snowflakes (all of them are unique individuals) at Oberlin are upset that midterms and academics are getting in their way of student activism. They should not be expected to have to take academics seriously, and more importantly should not be punished for this by a grade of "C" or lower when they are busy protesting.
As most of you know, I am pretty liberal, but maybe this hits to close to home as a college professor for me to understand.
Here is a short synopsis of the longer article (No, it's not in the Onion because that was my first thought too; the longer article is from the New Yorker and linked at the bottom of this synopsis):

Were these students out at the "Fight for Fifteen" protest, because with this attitude I see them in minimum wage jobs for sure.

I read that entire article recently. It doesn't bode well for the future of this country.

It's going to be pretty easy for my daughters to succeed in this country if this is the competition they're up against.

Wake County schools have abolished valedictorians on a note closer to home.
Competition is the bedrock of American economics. It was, anyway.
Feel the Bern.

They "identify" as A students. Don't put them in a box!

If they're able to compete. That's the point of these demands: to even the playing field for lazy and unskilled people. It's intellectual Marxism.
Feel the Bern.

I'm feeling a strong case of "activism" coming on. I wonder if the boss would mind my taking off for the rest of the day? Yeah, right...
"Student activism" should be just like activism for the rest of us. If you care about it, you'll make time for it and get your work done, as well. Aren't these students supposed to be preparing for the "real world"?

No the greatest generation raised the children of the 50's and 60's. The children of today are the children of the 70's and 80's . The age of free love and disco. Now we want free school and safe spaces.

This sort of thing has been going on for a few years in secondary school. No grades below a 50 is not an uncommon practice put in place by admins and school boards many of which would have been of the baby-boomer generation.
In an attempt to make graduation numbers look good we have made the bar to a high school diploma very low. The sad thing is that in doing this the diploma becomes pretty much worthless for everyone, including the students that do work and learn at a level that is worthy of a high school diploma.

And this is the end result of the Participation Trophy phenomenon.
Such a shame many don't understand the true meaning of "agony of defeat and joy of winning."

This has to be satire. There's no way this is real.

These kids will join either the Bernie Sanders groupies or the Occupy Wall Street thugs or the Black Lives Matter marchers or the
Midwestern Anarchist Federation (Ferguson, Mo.) or the SEIU thugs and other service worker union activists to change our way of living. These groups (and others just as radical) will become paid anarchists and agitators just in time for the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. George Soros will foot the bill as he usually does. Its gonna be a long, hot summer. Chaos lives!
