He was a man of strong moral character, a quality that has become very rare in positions of leadership.

Not many former Presidents can say that they did more for humanity after their term as President. Jimmy Carter is one of the few, if any, that can make that claim. His humanitarian endeavors helped more people throughout the world. Truly a great man, just not a good President.

You know I’ve always wanted to feel good about Jimmy Carter. Your post made me realize that his presidency was just the springboard for all the good he did in the world. His presidency wasn’t so bad after all. Because without becoming president he never could have done what he did.

My wife was reading about his funeral arrangements and came across a quote about how his body will get back to Georgia after laying in state. He basically told a staffer several years ago that “there’s no way his cold dead body will take its final trip by plane”. I found that quite amusing.
Give 'em hell!

The only good thing that came from his presidency is it gave us Ronald Reagan in a landslide. Electoral College 489-49

What some don’t know in his one term, Real GDP was actually higher than Reagan’s during his first term. Inflation and the hostage crisis doomed his presidency. He helped Reagan combat inflation by appointing Paul Volcker as FED chairman.
